I agree it’s a stupid premise, but the reason it was a non-event was that a whole lot of people worked hard to make it so. I worked in IT at the time, we were patching every bit of software, I also did some consulting work and did a lot of work testing equipment for a furniture manufacturing company to make sure the PLC's could handle the date rollover, I had to also come up with a solution to their PC’s that were running the Italian version of DOS 5 (Basically roll the date back every year).

This all happened because she rose too quickly & too fast. Therefore, she ASSumed getting jobs/roles would ALWAYS be at he beck and call. I think it losing to Solo Leveling is the greatest thing ever. It has been out for 20 days at the time of this comment the same as Y2K and is an anime movie that most people do not go to a theater for beat it. Not to mention it was only available in less than 900 theaters nationwide compared to 2,108 theaters. It's opening weekend well surpassed the budget for the movie and is a great success widely acclaimed by both critics and audiences. Honestly anime stories anymore are more original and entertaining than anything Hollywood has put out for a long time and will always be a better option over anything Rachel Zegler is in.

The issue I think with Y2K is that it was made solely for people my age. I graduated high school in 99 so this movie was pure nostalgia for me. I loved it! My friend who is much older than me thought it was just okay. Rachel Z wasn’t the only reason why people didn’t show up for this movie.
