The difference between Rachel and Halle, is that Halle did not disparage the Little Mermaid. The whole racial change thing literally had nothing to do with her personally. I’ll just leave her bio in the Romeo+Juliet playbill (which the actor writes for and about themselves) here: Rachel Zegler is a dynamic actress and singer who has already established herself as a trailblazer of her generation. At only 17 years old, Rachel earned the role of María Vasquez for Steven Spielberg’s new adaptation of West Side Story out of 30,000 auditions. The film captured Rachel’s motion picture debut alongside Rita Moreno and Ariana DeBose, and earned her an NBR Award for Best Actress along with a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Rachel then starred alongside Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu in D.C. Comics’ Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the sequel to the successful predecessor, Shazam! She can currently be seen leading the highly anticipated prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes as Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, and Hunter Schafer also star. In 2025, Rachel will be seen as Snow White in Disney’s live-action remake of the classic story, making her one of the first Latina actresses to star in a live-action Disney film. Director Marc Webb said, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairy-tale.” She will also be seen in the A24 disaster comedy Y2K, directed by SNL alum Kyle Mooney. In the film penned by Evan Winter, which is set on New Year’s Eve 1999, two high school nobodies decide to crash the last big party before the new millennium. When the clock. strikes midnight, the night gets more insane than they ever could have imagined. Rachel stars alongside Mason Gooding, The Kid Laroi and Alicia Silverstone. Rachel will also be seen leading Netflix’s animated musical film Spellbound, which follows Princess Ellian (Zegler) as she embarks on a mission to save her kingdom after a spell turns her parents into monsters. The film will feature music and lyrics by The Little Mermaid collaborators Alan Menken and Glenn Slater. Rachel has been featured on the covers of Elle, Town & Country, Who What Wear and The Hollywood Reporter and has been profiled by Vogue, Allure, and VMagazine. She is a Forbes “30 Under 30” recipient and has been recognized by Time magazine with inclusion in their Time100Next list, by Variety in their annual “Power of Young Hollywood Impact“ list, and by The Hollywood Reporter with their “Next Generation” list. She was also named one of “Nine Latinx Women in Hollywood Currently Changing the World” by Elle magazine. On Latin representation in entertainment, a subject she is passionate about, Rachel says, “We are not just the quirky side character who occasionally says a word in Spanish, we are the main character.”

I feel like a lot of people forget that Hollywood is a part of the Entertainment BUSINESS. You know that saying, "It's nothing personal, it's just business." I've tried to give Rachel the benefit of the doubt, but (aside from acting on screen) it's quite clear she just doesn't understand other aspects of business/Hollywood such as staying marketable, "the customer's always right", and being careful about how you express your opinions and how that can affect your ability to get hired.

At this rate. She isn’t even qualified to work in retail. I have worked this for many years. There are a lot of good people in this industry and she wouldn’t even get her foot in the door. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

this is a truly hilarious comment considering most people hired in retail are children who have never had a job or any experience before, as it is with any entry-level minimum wage job. I’ve worked in a restaurant for many years, which I acknowledge can be a fairly difficult & stressful thing to do (far more than retail), and yet I also know that many restaurants out there will hire the first ten 15 year olds that appear on their doorsteps, 0% work ethic or not. anybody is qualified to work in retail. sorry to break it to you, but you aren’t as valuable in the industry as you believe you are. these jobs just don’t care.

It is very easy to understand. I can even explain it where normal people can relate. If you were the owner of a restaurant, would you hire a waitress that would say the food in your restaurant looks bad, unappetizing and dated? Who would hire an actress whom, when interviewed, will talk smack about the character they are portraying at?

Only one thing. "I did this cause I needed a job"- shouldn’t be a bad thing. She can study the film materials later but at first needing a job is the sole reason people do things. She deserves hate for all the other shit she did though.
@iamsatanjr4 ай бұрын
I understand your logic, but it just doesn't apply here, because in this sutuation it's not about her needing a job like any other person - it's her not showing any passion to a franchise that many people are passionate about. By answering this way, she essentially insulted everyone who's a fan of DC: if one of the main actors comes off completely dismissive and uninterested in the movie, laughs at it and says "i did it because moni lol" - that feels like an insult to fans. And as a turn-off to everyone else. Also, another reason why people didn't like it is the same reason why all the big KZbinrs and streamers tend to get shit for complaining about how being an influencer is hard, or start talking about how it's a job like any other. Sure, it might have its challenges, but from the viewpoint of a normal person with all kinds of normal people struggles, you lose all rights to complain after a certain amount of zeros in a bank account. Simply put, most people don't see Hollywood acting as a job - they see it as a never-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and to them the whole "i needed a job lol" thing comes off as Zegler being both entitled and ungrateful. I mean, when an average person says the sentence "i needed a job" it's usually about something low-paying and/or degrading, like cleaning shit-clogged toilets for a minimum wage or something - and definitely NOT about a major movie role that pays millions of dollars.

It’s an age old question in job interviews, “Why do you want to work for LARGE BRAND NAME ICE CREAM STORE?” “Well you see I’ve always been passionate about scooping ice cream and the service industry (B*TCH I’M BROKE)”
@piknos33814 ай бұрын
@@iamsatanjr That's might be the public perception, but she could really just have needed that job. She's still new to the industry so getting into films and roles like that are really essential to building her career. She doesn't have a solid background like a big youtuber would which is evident by how just her comments have lost her a big part of her career. Just words, nothing terrible. Many a youtuber have said and done worse and gotten by just fine. Examples like people filming dead bodies, scamming their audience, rapists and pedos come to mind, all very terrible things that various youtubers have done and still gone on and still had very successful careers. If she was a multimillionaire, had a catalog of great movies and a dedicated fanbase I could understand your point but it simply isn't the case for an aspiring actor.
