Disney Fans Are Not Happy! Cars Land Will Ruin Frontierland and Liberty Square!

I’m an old (60+) and classic Disney fan. For me, PIXAR is not Disney, for example. Put all these brands (Marvels, Star Wars and so) at Hollywood Studios. And create new things for the Magic Kingdom following It’s original ideas! They already ruined the fantastic Epcot Center from the 80’s. Now is the Magic Kingdom in jeopardy!!!!! So sad!!!!

The ambience of Magic Kingdom is something that separates it from other theme parks like Six Flags or Kings Island, etc. They are destroying the ambience and I love the water especially in Florida. What’s next? Filling in Seven Seas Lagoon?😢😢 I was really hoping for a fifth gate too instead of this. Editing to add: Great video Steve. I agree. And that pic of a torn up mainstreet, it hurt. 😅😢

Yes, they're going to pave over Seven Seas Lagoon and build a DVC hotel. They might as well. To Disney, stuff like that is just a "waste of space" and nothing they do surprises me anymore. It's ridiculous.

I'd say I'm more sad. What made Disneyland. And Magic Kingdom so exceptionally special? Design, layout, ambiance, superb landscaping, surprising views, etc. It was beautiful. The River was the open space.

When was the last time Disney said, "We've listened to all your feedback, and we're going to make changes..." They do not care. Tom Sayer Island produces zero merchandise revenue. That is the only chart Disney suits are interested in. $$$

Very true. I heard on Jim Hill Media that the Imagineers presented management with two proposals -- one for Cars and one for Coco. Cars won out because the Cars team told management that Cars would sell more merchandise.

I think those of us who are upset have to be real clear. This has nothing to do with Tom Sawyer Island. The Island play area is a bonus, but the the Island itself is just a support structure for Rivers of America. The island allows the boats to explore the various great American Rivers. Without it it would just be a pond. So they could expand on Tom Sawyer all they want but with out it, the Rivers of America goes. And I really don’t think people realize how much atmosphere the river and boat traffic add to The park. Every Disneyland has one! It was one of Walt’s integral features for his park idea, even when Walt considered building Disneyland in Burbank. Joe Rhode! We need you to talk some sense in to Disney imagineers and more importantly, the management!

That is a great point. No island no rivers. At the end of the day it is all going to be gone. Maybe just maybe with all of the back lash they will reverse course. But don't get your hopes up.

Repurpose Liberty Belle on the lagoon in front of MK. No loss with the island. Huge parcel of land and the train doesn't have to shut down again during construction.

ATV People have ruined some of my favorite hiking locations, and lately they've been driving on roads in gangs, over fields, like some kind of MadMax scene. ATVs suck.

The steamboat is part of the DNA of the magic kingdom park, just like the train. Getting rid of it and the river completely is simply crazy. They need to balance nostalgic and classic with the new. And they can’t claim it as a “biggest expansion “ when things are taken away.

Hollywood Studios kinda was already sacrificed as the park to receive any IP, just stuff it in there.

My thought was that they probably need to rename Frontierland, because it’s just not going to make sense anymore… But I don’t think what they’re doing is necessarily going to de-Americanize it. It’s actually now going to have a greater representation of how vast and different the landscapes of America are - you’ll have Colonial New England, Appalachia (?) with Country Bears, New Orleans with Tiana, I’m guessing Pacific Northwest with Cars, and desert SW with Big Thunder (plus the expansion area in back of it that could possibly become Coco themed)… Altogether, this area could be called something like Celebrate America or Scenes from America, or something like that, (I’m not the greatest at naming things lol). Will I miss the scenic and peaceful water feature? For sure! …but I can’t say as I’ve used any of it in decades. I *am* worried about MK losing the cooling effect of all those trees and the water. Hopefully they’ll at least try to keep as many trees as possible.

I think a rename is on the table. It’ll be a bummer to lose Frontierland. When I think of Disney, Walt , I think of Frontierland, Fort Wilderness etc.

Scorched-earth imagineering! It's just bad design, they didn't seem to look at how they could make them work together. Put the cars ride on Tom Sawyers island! Speedway is the much better choice.

The back half of Rivers of America I would not mind being replaced by the Villians Land. You can't see any of that area from Liberty Square or Fronterland. But I totally agree removing this front half of the river with Tom's Island will totally ruin the ambiance of this area. Put the Car's attraction either behind Big Thunder or on the speedway. Perhaps still park the Liberty Bell and put a couple large new bridges over to the island with some new things in the island. But please leave the water in this area. It's wonderful.

First off, the Imagineer's rendering is uncomprehensable. It looks like a pesto pizza, dropped on the floor upside down, then, picked up and placed on the kitchen table. Yuck.😮

Yes, Steve, I don’t understand why they didn’t replace Speedway with Cars Land. There have been many changes in the parks but this change has hit very close to me….. I can see Tom Sawyer Island but the Rivers of America n the Riverboat n Liberty Bell. Steve you did another fantastic job in your video. All three have been super awesome. You’re best at communicating n sharing Disney news with us. PS. I think this was sneaky of Disney. Why wasn’t it mentioned at D23…… Yes, I’m disappointed. I don’t want another Universal studio. I want the magic, ambiance etc of Disney……👍👏🤗

To me it just makes sense to replace the speedway. It’s already a cars attraction. I don’t think anyone’s happy about this change coming.

Well the speedway needs new cars that don't stink but the speedway is great for kids who want to drive and it should stay.Tom Sawyers island can go as the caves smell like pee,however they need to find a way to at least leave some water with the riverboat,it would make sense near Tianas.If they can significantly increase capacity adding Cars land and Villains land in the long run it'll be worth it but make sure to leave some water and the Liberty belle.If they ever mess with Main Street them just close the park,that's not a thing,hall of presidents however just yank it out,the current situation has destroyed the ability of some people to stay civil,just do away with it,don't like it but it's where we're at.If however Disney ever builds a hotel back behind Big Thunder somewhere instead of using the space for park expansions I will be very angry.

Cars does not belong in Magic Kingdom. There is an ambiance to Magic Kingdom and an aesthetic . Cars is a contrast to that “feel.” It belongs in Hollywood studios or better yet: a fifth park nicknamed IP land that is a quirkier , more thrown together feel like a universal park is. Villains belongs in Magic Kingdom. But Tom Sawyer island , although not as popular as it should be, keeps the area held together. Tom Sawyer island represents Walt himself: a kid with big dreams of adventure. That is the spirit and theme of magic kingdom. Management needs to get back to keeping those missions in the individual parks alive. That is the Disney Difference.

Yay Disney is back! We love Disney…. 2.2 seconds later grab the pitch forks!!!! 😂 Maybe if people actually went on Tom Sawyer Island more it wouldn’t be leaving. No one goes on the island anymore. It’s always empty, I’ve been the only one out there so many times. The new Carsland will be epic! They will make it look great. People need to stop hating.
