Eric mentioned that the Tiki Room opened 25 years ago. That attraction opened in 1963, which means this short video came out in 1988.

The Carousel of Progress of progress in WDW has reportedly been at the chopping block several times, somehow avoiding closure through the years. It's likely Sklar was referring to a closure that never occurred. He also might have mixed it up with the one at Disneyland, which closed in 1973.

I LOVE the troll in that ride, although the giant one in the water really freaks me out in a good way.

5:34 I'm 20, in college, and when I saw this, I started dancing and singing along right away. XD The Bears are one of my most favorite attractions at Disney World!! (I know, this was done back when they were still at Disneyland, though.)

Audio Animatronics are cool, LOL. I didn't know what they were back then when I was younger, because I didn't have any language skills to help me interpret what they were and what they looked like back then. R.I.P. Wally Boag, we'll miss you and your wonderful voice over as Jose the macaw from Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room which is located in Disneyland's AdventureLand (Anaheim, CA site). This is interesting, Walt Disney was inspired by animation in cartoons that he watched as a child which was an inspirational idea, he had for robotics that are being made in Walt Disney Imagineering or WDI for short.

"Si!" *Jack Benny pose* "Now, CUT THAT OUT!" Well, that was certainly the last thing I'd expect. Good to see Jack's spirit lives on.

The Imagineers of today have little regard left for "what Walt said". The almighty dollar is king.

how i miss the old tiki room... it USED to be enchanted, now it's just obnoxious. this made me really nostalgic. do you have the old disney bumper (i think it was with eric boardman) and it was a segment on "the fastest ride at disney world" and they interviewed guests to the park. The answer: the monorail! wish i could find a video of that...

The updated show at Disney World is an abomination. If you ever make a trip to California, go to Disneyland. Though the Tiki Room there has been shortened by a few minutes, it's still essentially the original show. I have some more video with Eric that will be posted here, but unfortunately not the "Fastest Ride" bit. I wish I could see that one again too.

It's so depressing what a full range of motion the original animatronics had compared to the way the same ones are run today. They're all turned down, probably to save wear and tear, but the show majorly suffers! Especially Small World.

@80sCommercialVault Maelstrom? I've been three times and never heard of that. D: What kind of ride/attraction was it?

Hey there. I have a question for all of you that know how to program the modern AA's. What language are they programmed in? I'm learning the basics of computer science and html, C, java, C++, CSS etc. I was just wondering what language I should learn if I wanted to do this. I know they have a new type of AA for many years now (Jack in POTC, and the witch in the great movie ride). Are they programmed using the same languages for that smoother operation? Thanks to anyone who can help.
