If she did not carry an EpiPen she did not take any assumed allergies seriously. To go to a food event, especially in a large venue, one cannot guarantee staff, such as servers, can get your message to the head chef. So if someone has this level of food allergy. You have to make better decisions.

So if she had used her epi-pen and still passed, THEN it would be the restaurant's fault??? No, per the law, if customers openly state they have certain food allergies, it is now the establishment's responsibility to ensure they can properly serve the customer food without the allergen. It's called Duty of Care.

I say this from first hand experience: if you have a food allergy that can cause anaphylaxis, you should know better than to eat out. Or to not have an EpiPen on you if you take that risk. She is not responsible for people lying to her, but she’s still paying the price of someone’s mistake. So are her loved ones. It could’ve been prevented.

If u have food allergies then carry an Epipen. Im allergic to Mushrooms so I have to be careful especially with restaurants like Olive Garden & Red Lobster. When im at work I dont carry it with me but whenever I go out I have to cuz u never know. This gal was reckless to go out & NOT carry one & shouldve known better, it was her own undoing
@Alvin-1138Ай бұрын
It's not reasonable to expect a restaurant server to be responsible for Life/Death food allergy safeguard. They don't cook the food, they don't package/make the food. And of course they might make a mistake. I used to order very likited items and thoroughly inspect and sample my foods to avoid fish and or nuts. (B4 epi-pens). Sometimes we have to just wait and eat at home.

My recent contact caused me to have anaphylaxis and now I have to carry an epi pen. It’s always our responsibility to know what we eat. So in regards to the food, that they don’t mention here, is that she was told it would be peanut free. The company who hosted this was made aware of her allergy as well. So this is on box lunch, who were the hosts of the influencer event she attended. As for the EpiPen who knows about that. That I didn’t see info about on the other news video. As someone else said, though, maybe she’d had one on her and it fell somewhere. Maybe they didn’t do a thorough search through her things. Regardless, I am sorry for her family and friends loss.

To make restaurants carry epi pens, they better carry inhalers so I can breathe better at the establishment. Lactaid pills for me to eat their dairy products. Also antacid pills for me to enjoy spicy food. Its a terrible situation but people need to take accountability of their own issues and not force others to change to accommodate for them.

My mother was given and told to carry two epi pens for her allergies. It was a struggle for her to carry them around as they were heavy. Her insurance also didn't cover much of the cost so a pack of two was around $500. Ya'll are being crazy judgemental in the comments..."Don't go out to public places to eat if you have serious allergies." Really just want people to never leave their homes and try to have normal lives if they maybe can't have an epi pen on hand for whatever reason. God. Would it really be so difficult for a restaurant to have them on hand instead? Lots of places are required to have defibrillators and basic disability facilities. What is the harm in just adding an epipen to all that?

With serious Allergies best to not partake in the food at such events. But an EpiPen should always be in your go to and while expensive so I have heard, I'd spend on that and eliminate less important things.

Didn't she carry some EpiPens with her? If people are yelling for anyone else having an EpiPen, what you're asking for is someone to give up their health, or even life, for someone else. If it was me with an EpiPen, and someone else at the event is having a food allergy, I probably wouldn't give mine up as I might be stricken with same allergy at any moment. Also, many with food allergies just don't trust food being made at a restaurant, or elsewhere. They make and bring their own food. Food gets cross contaminated all the time. If I had a peanut allergy, a food server or preparer might had handled peanuts before serving something to me that doesn't have peanuts. I would still be in trouble.

It’s her own fault and the fault of whoever raised her without ensuring she knew to always carry an epipen, and if the allergy didn’t have an immediate antidote to treat reactions, she should have had the brains to avoid the risk of ingesting this “life-threatening” allergen altogether.
