My late uncle's best friend was Eleanor Audley who was the voice of Maleficent and Lady Tremaine. When I was a young teen, I did a drawing of Lady Tremaine for her and she sent me an autographed photo that was taken of her when she was dressed in the costume and being filmed for the animator's reference. It's one of several Disney artifacts in my possession that I treasure.

So Matteo is 100% CORRECT about those long, slow sequences from the older animated movies. The ones in which you got to really appreciate hand-drawn animation. I think of the bubbles sequence from Cinderella, when she's singing that da-da-da-da, so this is love, kinda song. That was BEAUTIFUL! And i feel like if you tried to make a child of this current age sit through that, they'd be bored, or completely fail to see the magic they were looking at. He's totally right.

Honestly, I think it's great - it's such a cool reinterpretation of the story, and the blending of 2D and 3D animation feels like the perfect choice for the film. But unfortunately, it was also incredibly expensive and didn't even come close to making that money back, so it was definitely a flop in that sense. I feel like that leads some people to remember it as an actual bad movie when it really isn't!

1000% agreed about Sleeping Beauty. The movie is an absolute MASTERPIECE! It’s incredible that it was the second highest grossing movie of that year besides Ben Hur, and it still lost Disney money. Being the last ink-&-paint animated Disney film, you can definitely tell a quality difference between that and 101 Dalmatians, the next Disney animated film. The art direction, music, voice cast, writing, all flawless.
