Winifred: “My powers are nothing without my sisters.” 😢 It’s hard not to tear up in this scene every time. Obviously this movie is about what a person truly values in life. One thing I like about this scene the most it just makes the Winifred character come off as more human; and in the end she ends up being with her sisters again which whom she truly values. That’s why this movie makes a great family film. This scene may be heartbreaking; but it’s heartbreaking in the sweetest way possible.

Why do people say they were redeemed/became good in the end? They still revere Satan, enjoyed being in Hell, and are on board with eating children to regain and retain their youth. I am surprised that they actually made Winifred regretful of losing her sisters to the afterlife. And now she can go back to them by sacrificing this, sacrificing all this power to be where the sisters. That's just so beautiful. It's like, Oh my Lord in heaven. That was just beautiful scene. It's so touching. Plus, she loved her sister so much that it's just so beautiful.
@tonyf49912 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why people think Winnie was redeemed at the end. She wasn't. Heck, if her sister's had not died, the main characters would be dead and Winnie would be laughing. She didn't pass a torch either as Book changed sides, Winnie didn't willingly give up Book. And Winnie saying the nice things to the girls? She was just saying something similar to the girls as she was told since she then understood why she was told not to use the spell. The thing with Winnie is that she does show respect when it is due. Even if it means going after you herself, she has some respect because you are then worth her time. If you are not worth her time she ignores you unless you make fun of her.
@Khadi-C Жыл бұрын
Redemption doesn't always need to mean a character joining the good side. Yes, Winnie may still be evil, but we got to see she is capable of remorse, guilt, love, and gratitude. Neither she nor her sisters are merely caricatures of evil. They are still (to a degree) human, for lack of a better word.

This is one of the things that made this sequel not work and clearly needed rewrites. I love Bette Midler and all. But I'm sorry, the character she plays in this movie is NOT Winifred Sanderson. In the original film, she was this evil, sadistic, and heartless witch who literally murdered children. You don't give a redemption arc to a character like that unless you're able to do it with very smart writing which this movie did not do. Also, as great as it is to see her acknowledge that she loves her sisters, it felt off because there was literally a line in the original movie where she said she would gladly sacrifice her sisters if it meant that she could live forever

Fucking sick of Disney trying to redeem their villains. Let's not forget that hocus pocus 1 opened with them forcing thackery to watch as they literally sucked the life out of his child sister. Sometimes, Disney, evil just wants to do evil things, and giving them a fucking heart is so basic and cheap. First maleficent, now winnifred sanderson (in sure they did it in cruella but I'm not watching that shit); disney won't be happy until every villain has been ret-conned into weepy teenage girls who just need love

To be honest, this movie was done really well. Anyone who says otherwise I believe went into this with 30 year expectations and/ or is looking at this through the eyes of a child in the 90s- early 00s. I hope that they do make a third movie. I wasn't really a fan of this sequel, but that doesn't mean that I didn't like any of the stuff they had. I like the idea of having the witches turning good. For the next movie, they should have that Witch Mother character return as the main villain. And with the Sandersons back, the "Mother" will give them an offer in which they can't refuse. Winifred, as greedy as she is, will want it all. Since Winifred was a little harsher to Mary and Sarah in this movie, she could be even worse to them which will set Mary and Sarah over the edge to turn their backs on her and fight back. Near the end, the Mother decides she doesn't just want the lives of all the children of Salem, but every single life. Including Mary and Sarah's. This is when Winifred knows what she's doing is wrong and she will do whatever she can to save everyone. At the end of the final battle, the Mother will say "If you do this, you will return to Hell! Eternal damnation for you and your sisters!" And Winifred will say "It will be a worthy sacrifice for me and my sisters, knowing no one will suffer a terrible fate from a monster like thee". With this, after the Mother is sent to Hell, two things can happen to the Sandersons. Either one, they are allowed to stay in the world of the living, without their powers, and will live in their old house entertaining people as actresses by giving people their history like how Gilbert did. Or two, since the Sandersons proved themselves to have good in them and turn away from their evil ways, they are allowed to go to Heaven. With this, Binx can be there to greet them saying he's proud of what they have done. Emily could be there too. The Sandersons will apologize for what they have done. Either way, if Billy somehow comes back, Winifred can apologize to him as well for how she treated him. And I hope that Max, Dani, Allison, Jay, and Ice return.

Okay. If we are going to make the comparison with the original film, the sequel is below the original. Still, it's a decent sequel, lovingly made by the fans. Yes... Many things are repeated that in the original worked organically. But the few new contributions he made were great. expanded the universe with the prologue with some young Sanderson sisters. And to be honest, I didn't expect that ending, let alone empathize with child murderers. you know what? Hocus Pocus 2 won't be as good as the original... But for me it's like seeing an old friend. I gotta be honest, I was really not vibing with this movie. As a HUGE fan of the first one, I felt this was doing the same thing almost beat by beat with little to no originality and making the town they reside in all meta with the first one's content felt completely off. All the call backs felt more like Disney being like "oh we have to reference this cause it was in the first one" rather than working it in organically out of love and respect for the franchise and opening with the trope of "Here's the wacky characters you love, but as kids! Funny right!?" Just felt lazy and cheap.....until i got to this scene. Yeah idk what it is, but the ending with Winifred realizing the only thing that truly matters to her was her sisters got me in the feels and made see the rest of the movie in a slightly different light. I still don't think the movie works, but the ending taught me it doesn't really matter if the movie did everything I feel a proper sequel should do. I should be happy to simply see these 3 beloved figures of my childhood back together for one last time and to not take that for granted. As Winifred learned in her final moments of embracing her sisters, I learned the same thing as well. Don't be mad at the specific stuff you dont have, be thankful for the important things you do.

Who’s to say that Winnie actually turned good in the end since it was a moment of weakness for her and her sisters and had to trust the girls since the main is now a Witch, if we do get a third movie i wonder if they’ll still be Evil but have a sweetspot for the girls that contradicts with their real intentions
