The movie is a live-action version of a syndicated TV cartoon that was aired from 1983-1986, then was reran by Nickelodeon from 1987-1992 and again from 1996-2000, CBS from 1991-1992, The Family Channel from 1992-1995, daily syndication from 1992-1994 and returned as a holiday special, Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas, on NBC in 1992.

While the show was rerunning on the air, Universal Pictures and Northern Lights Entertainment at one point had an option on the film rights to the animated television series in 1993, the film was set to have Ivan Reitman produce it, with a script by Joseph Loeb and Matthew Weisman. But, production shifted studios after Disney bought out DiC, in 1999. At one point, Peter and Bobby Farrelly were considered to write and direct. Martin Scorsese was also considered to direct.

Yes…the scene witch gadget chopping celery with penny in the kitchen There’s an extended scene of gadget and robogadget in the shopping carts And I beleive the scene with Brenda fixing gadgets circuits and him shooting a missle and saying that’s never happened before. There may be more but those are in this video
