One of THE BEST changes they have done is getting rid of the disgusting carpeting. I believe ALL hotels should do away with that. The humidity alone makes rooms smell horrid, not to mention God only knows what is hidden amongst those carpet fibers 😝🤤😨😱 I really like the changes a loy, hope they all follow suit real soon. Loving the solid floors. I have always thought they should put solid floors in hotels for ease of cleaning! It’s so much cleaner!

We loved these rooms! I mean Brian felt they were too stark (he described it as a hospital room), but the functionality of them we both loved. Especially for a family of 2. :) Made the room feel so much bigger.

Haha yeah they're a bit plain, but we agree the functionality of everything outweighs the lack of theming! PERFECT for the two of us, I felt like we had way more floor space than before!

I don't like hospitals so this is not for me. I don't know how I feel about not having a table while my kids are sleeping. I mean there is no place for me to drink my hot tea before my kids wake up.

Just came back from my stay at the Resort! The new rooms are amazingly beautiful and so freaking comfortable lol! So glad they got rid of the carpets. I Would definitely stay there again.. All I was missing is the microwave.

Thanks for sharing and I love. Was first booked at Music and switched to POP...hoping to get a refurbished one...going in August so better chances. Stayed at POP in 2013 and only checked out the resort the day we were leaving, too busy at the parks but since we are going in August, afternoons will be pool time and check out the resorts. We just returned from a week’s vacation at WDW , stayed at Pop Century and couldn’t believe the incredible transformation of their rooms! The added storage space was very welcome. Absolutely loved the new bathroom, so sleek and modern. The only thing we wished they had done in the refurbishment was to paint the long wall a color, possibly the beautiful blue from the bathroom. It’s an incredible new room and design that just lacked a bit of warmth and an added color. Would definitely stay here again, though!

I love it!! I'm so excited that we're staying here for our trip in April. Question for you - did you request a certain section at Pop or did you request a refurbished room? This was the 80's section, right?

Erin P we had put in for the 90's section and the ground floor in our pre-check in on the Disney website. As we were checking in at the front desk, we double checked if we would be in a refurbished room. We knew the 90’s building had been fully refurbished, so we knew if we got that we would get a new room.

We haven't stayed there, it looks real nice. We are wanting to stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort again. We stayed there on our honeymoon 27 yrs ago. At least the construction will be finished by the time we go in 2019.

The Coffee maker should be filters and grounds. They have some Joffery's in the room, but you'll probably be better off bringing what you're used to! Enjoy your trip!

From what I understand they are wrapping up the 60's section now and then will only have the 50's section left to do! That was from a friend who was there a few weeks ago though, so it may have changed or be wrong.

Very interesting. Couple of questions... What is the WiFi situation at Disney, both in room and generally ie in café or restaurant? Is it available, is there a fee? How about 3 and 4g📱 providers, are all the major 'players' available?

Wifi is free across all of Disney property. Some locations have better connection than others. We actually just turned off wifi and used our cellular plan for our stay at Port Orleans, because the wifi connection was so awful and slow. Most of the major phone carriers in the US work well at WDW though.

Can 100% agree. We just returned from staying at Pop in the 70’s. WiFi is so slow in the rooms it’s not worth having. In the cafe and particularly the parks it’s hopeless keeps dropping off. So stay on cellular

This is exactly what I was looking for! We are considering staying at POP for our family vacation next year! We'll be traveling as 2 adults & 3 kids - one of whom will require sleeping in a pack & play... do you think that would be crazy crammed in the new refurbished room?

When that second bed comes down, you lose a lot of walking around space. I think you’d have a little nook of space in front of the window or the space between the dresser & bathroom. I know I’ve heard of people putting the pack and play in the bathroom as well. It will be tight, but if you don’t spend a ton of time in the room (aside from sleeping) you should be good!

What building were they working on for refurbishment when you were there?

They were finishing up the 70s buildings. Our friend talked to the front desk and heard they should be 100% finished by May. Unofficially of course.

Are the beds comfortable. In one video several people commented that they were very uncomfortable and they recommended a moderate hotel because of this. Any thoughts?

Hi Pete! That's a tough question since comfort is so personal, but we have found these beds to be just fine. WE have found beds at other resorts to be more comfortable, while friends have said they prefer Pop!. We actually bought the same mattress that's used at Coronado resort because we like it so much!

The room looks nice. I understand that some people like wood floors, however, if you are handicapped like me, to walk on that kind flooring can cause you to slip. At my age it could be devastating. Is there any handicapped rooms that have carpets? I use both a wheelchair in the parks and crutches in the room.

I'm really not sure about that! I would assume that all of the new rooms have hard floors, but I understand how that wouldn't be ideal for you! I would call Disney to check!

The thing about the Pop Century hotel is that its supposed to be Pop Culture Themed. And with the make over its more of a Ikea/hostel hotel. We are a family of 4 and need to use the table and both beds at once.

We've stayed at pop a dozen or so times. The last time was in November after the remodel. That will be our last time at pop, it's terrible now. Soooooo loud ! All you hear all night is things dropping on the floor and sliding doors slamming . Terrible job!!!!!

My 1st thought was that it seemed very empty, but it does have everything you need, it's just not plush. And it is nice to know that with mostly hard surfaces and no knick knacks it should be clean.

I'm still not that crazy about the design on this one - feels too much like IKEA to me, BUT that said - it's a huge upgrade from the past rooms. All the USB/outlets are a great feature, and that shower looks AWESOME compared to the old rooms. It's not really my aesthetic, but it's a major improvement for sure. Love the makeup mirror! I also have an irrational fear of murphy beds thanks to an old episode of Rescue 911. LOL. So the important question - how were the mattresses?

Totally agree! It’s very modern. but I’ll deal with the kind of stale feeling in exchange for all those plugs and that shower 🙌 The bed is not memorable... so that’s probably a good thing lol. I didn’t touch the Murphy bed aside from pulling it down 😂

I tell you what though.. we stay in Cabins at the Wilderness campgrounds a lot.. when they refurbished those and removed the murphy beds and instead have queen size pull out bed in couch... ughh the pullout bed is horrible.. sleeping on an actual mattress in the murphy bed was waaaaayyyy better... they need to undo that change at the cabins in my opinion.. especially when you have a large family group there and actually need it to sleep everyone.

When you arrive at the resort, go straight to the front desk and ask if the room you're assigned has been refurbed or if they have a refurbed room available. They have been pretty accommodating whenever we've asked. Good Luck!

You could try running the coffee maker without putting the coffee pod in. It will just spit out hot water for you. I do that at home with my Keurig machine and a teabag.

It's remained a "value resort". Prices fluctuate throughout the year, but it's still generally one of the least expensive options on property.

Are all the rooms refurbished at Pop Century?

When we were there in April 2018, they were finishing the last few rooms. The cast member we spoke with said they should be done in mid-late May. They could all be finished by now, but if you want to make sure you get a refurbished room when you arrive at the resort, you could go to check-in before going to your room and requesting a refurbished room specifically and they may be able to help.

I could almost think your in a remodeled Motel 6! I stayed in Anaheim in a Motel 6 that was remodeled just so similar! Rate for Motel 6 was 59.00 per night. Pop century I am sure twice the price per night! When I was your age I was staying at the Contemporary Resort at 129.00 per night. I have to say it looks really cheap just like my budget since I am now 65.

For us right now, this is our favorite budget-friendly resort. We'd rather afford to stay an extra day or two at Pop then spring for moderate or deluxe room. But that's just where we are right now. I can't imagine paying $129 for a Contempo room!!! That would be so awesome!

My favorite resort is the Polynesian, but I refuse to pay 500+ a night for a standard room. I can afford it but no. I stay in moderate or values now. We are staying at Pop Century this October.

If you are serious about your tech, it's better to pack your own chargers, as not all wall usb ports are going to have the same voltage/amperage as your device's charger, which might be detrimental to their batteries' health

No problem! By the way, could you guys make a video on how to stay at the Pop Century resort for the least amount of money? I'm planning my honeymoon trip to Disney on the first week of March 2020, and I'd like to stay in one of those refurbished rooms. BUT, I want to make sure that I'm taking advantage of the best deals possible for those dates. (I know it's considered a peak season, but Spring Break doesn't really start until the second week of March, but I don't know if Disney takes such specific dates into consideration when having discounts). I know for a fact that the free Dining Plans are not offered in those dates ever, but perhaps some discounts are possible? I've always heard people say "NEVER pay full price for your hotel and tickets in Disney", but I'm not sure how to make that possible xD. Thanks!

We’ll definitely add it to our list of videos to make. Like you said it can be kind of hard to guess. Disney “traditionally” rolls out the same discounts at the same time frames, but they also adjust specific dates often based on holidays and whatnot.

Definitely check the Disney website for pricing - it changes a lot! Pop Century is a "value" resort at WDW, so it's typically on the lower end for pricing.

Some rooms are just showers, some are shower/tub combos. From what we've heard a majority of the rooms are the shower/tub combo! We've stayed at Pop 3x since the refurb and only got a shower this one time.

When we first stayed there there was, but all the clocks were taken out during the refurbishments. All refurbished rooms are heading that way. I think most people use their phones as alarms now.

I don't like it. It feels cheaply done/designed. Kinda like they copied the bay lakes theming but on a budget and it turned out bad. I also don't like the wood floors, I prefer the carpet because I like waking up to carpet in the morning instead of a cold floor. I also don't like how dang bright everything is. The main thing I don't like is the bed situation. Id rather have 2 beds and a stand alone table with chairs. I don't like having to move chairs and pull my bed down when I get back from the parks. I also don't like how there is basically a wall between me (in the bed) and the end tables. It also has ZERO pop century theming. They had framed posters/pictures based on the section you were staying it. I also HATE WHITE walls, furniture, and crappy tacky "modern" "artwork" It was nice in baylake because thats Bay Lake. It's the contemporary and modern Hotel. Plus its done nice and properly and not overdone.

Different set ups definitely work for different folks! We love that one bed can be tucked away since we don't need it with our current family set up, but I see how larger families may prefer two standard beds. Hope you're able to find a resort that works for you!

@@TonyandLyndsay Nice tour...I noticed this was from a couple years ago-i assume they've reno'd the whole resort by now, and also was that a Standard or Preferred room(from the pics on Disney's site, i couldn't tell a difference inside)? Thx!

Mike O'Donoghue yep inside all the rooms are basically the same - preferred is strictly a location thing.
