I've been waiting for these figures since 1978. They are so cool! Yes the VINCENT stand is terrible. Mine droops too. I finally just chose a position and glued it into place. The arms in front also come out to be replaced with the extended arms. The paint damage seems to be common.

I believe two versions were released, a twin pack containing vincent & old Bob and a second Maximillian with a swappable Hans Reindhardt head

Often thought of buying these - but needed a proper review before I parted with any money. That day has arrived. Thank you, Dave. I have seen some other large scale figures of these two - and the Maximillian has a spare head - with Reinhardt's terrified face looking out through the eye slot. It's very creepy.

Those are the Walgreen exclusive versions. The general releases (that were available in the UK) had VINCent sold with OLDBob as a twin pack and Maximillian has tons of accessories. There's also a diorama display included. Oh, and VINCent's head can be closed

Thanks for sharing Dave. The Maximillian reminds me very much of the model kit they put out at the time. Same size but colour was more regular. I remember assembling it as a 10 year old in 1980. I wouldn't be surprised if Diamond Select used the model kit as a mould. Very nice, brings back memories. Thanks Ant.

I have loved The Black Hole since childhood and am so very happy to see new products for the film! I feel like it has definitely had a resurgence in the fandom recently. Likely due to the movie being on Disney+ combined with the AMAZING videos that have been done here on Toy Polloi which have truly taken me and I’m sure many others back to their youth. You could probably make a sturdier stand for V.I.N.CENT and a clear stand for Maximilian out of some clear acrylic or perspex rod

I love these figures. Never had the originals and I was a small kid when the movie came out. But I have always loved that movie. I have the Vincent figure. Still haven't got Maximilian yet. Been looking high and low locally with no luck. I was disappointed though in the stand on Vincent. It looks nice. But it very flimsy and very unstable. I have various robot toys in with my retro video game collection. And my theme leans to an 80's theme. So I wedged him in as part of the display and I rarely touch him if I can. Because if I do, he falls over. Then it takes 20 minutes to get him rebalanced where he will stand again.

Get a large metal washer for the bottom of the stand, and glue it in. It'll be what I'll be doing if I can get one.

Again this is a nice range that I do not recall seeing in Australia. Im kinda getting jack on Walmart exclusives, limited distribution and a lack widespread distribution, instead "limited" or "exclusive" ranges. As a child I didn't get any tho saw the movie twice, so different to Star Wars or Battlestar and yet, it had a certain, ne je sais quoi..... but remained for ever in my happy childhood memories. Thanks for this review and bringing out the old Mego range as well!

While those are very nicely done display figures, I'm still more drawn to your little ones. Something about that chunky in the hand scale with simplified details feels more fun.

Bob comes in an exclusive 2 pack with Vincent. There's an exclusive Max as well with more accessories. I think you could only get them straight from diamond select. In stores you only got Vincent, Maximilian, and The Rocketeer.

Btw the long claws go in the arm area near the laser not the sides, i have seen claws with extensions for those, like the max zarloff eyes, it stinks that different versions came with more accessories

Vincent’s stand comes apart at the joints, that’ll allow it to float properly and not fall over. I’ve had these figures in my display for months now and Didn’t know about that front panel. Oh and Bob only comes with the deluxe 2 pack unfortunately.

They're so cool. Loved this movie ever since it first came out. Diamond Select missed an opportunity to incorporate some LED light features though I think. Maximilian looks dead without that menacing red glow from his eye area. Vincent and bob could've had some lighting too, from their little monitor screens at least. It's a deal breaker for me so I never picked up these figures solely for that reason. I have the 11 inch 1979 MPC models of Vincent and Maximilian. They're pretty cool but you have to assemble them yourself. There's no reason you cant add a battery or usb light feature into the builds.

I have old plastic models of these guys. There stands have a spring wire an actually float. Vincent has all the same acessorys but his head doesn't retract inside. He's about the side of a Magic 8 Ball. The Max figure is about as tall as a VHS tape on its side. All the arms, flapper and head move but I never saw Max spread his legs or swivel his waist. Even in the movie. Very odd. I believe MPC was the manufacturer. I built them as a kid right around the time the movie was released. And they're still on display today. You're Vincent is quite smaller in relation to Max than the models are. I've always believed the models to be to scale to each other.

Is the Max figure based on the scale of the film prop? I ask because he seems much deeper from front to back than he seems in the film. If you look at him from the side he just looks way thick to me.

He has two sets in the film. A pair that point forwards, and a pair that point side ways. This model is very accurate.

There is a VINCENT and BOB twin pack, I managed to get one at a comic store here in Ireland, weirdly BOB is heavier than VINCENT. I got the Maxamillian too, he came with a second head that has Reinhardt's eyes behind the visor. It's very creepy.

Combined both boxes make a section of diorama...that none of the stands fit on ! I see I got a different diamond select version than you. VINCENT and BOB came as a twin pack and Maxamillian came with a spare head that has Reinhardt's eyes behind the visor.
