I just bought the Wallgreens Exclusive Max and Vincent. I was disappointed that Max doesn't come with the spinning cutters, the extra head, the electricity, or the Signus base. Vincent also doesn't come with Bob, but he does seem to come with everything else. The upside is that both Wallgreens versions are only $16 in-store, and they have tray packaging that slips out of a box, no twist ties, and no tearing a clam off of the cardboard. They come out with a simple slice of the sealing tape, and go back in even easier. Wallgreens versions are on eBay for upwards of $50+, but only $16 at the store if you can find any left. I just found both today with a little old fashioned drive and seek action.

Saw this in theaters with my Dad when it came out...I was uh...8. It took THIS long to get figures THIS good...but man it looks worth the wait. Cannot WAIT to get mine. And agreed, love to see STAR, Sentry robot and doomed crewman figures...and WHAT THE HECK...Ernest Borgnine, Yvette Mimieux, Anthony Perkins, Joseph Bottoms, Robert Forster, and Maximillian Schell would be AMAZING. Keep up the awesome work man!

These figures are awesome! Finally some Black Hole merchandise. It was worth waiting 40 years. 😉 I also did not expect them to be so big. And instructions on how to display the robots would’ve been nice. And it is quite confusing to have only half of the display in each set. Maximilian deserves his own background. And I wish, DST would have made Maximilian’s stand clear instead of black. I hope, DST continues with the line and brings our next STAR and one of the humanoids.

It's good to see The Black Hole finally getting some respect with the arrival of this toy line.. This seems to be the movie that Disney denies exists. Most young people today have never heard of it But my niece and nephew have, thanks to my collection. It's nice that they included an extra head for Maximilian. Someone on KZbin made a humorous comment about that part in the movie: "It's Maximilian Schell inside of Maximilian's shell!"

I’m a huge The Black Hole fan too! I think you and I are about the same age. I’ll be 50 next April. I had some of the Mego figures from the movie. I really want to get these new ones from D.S.T.! They really look great to me too! I’d love to see a second series with a red sentry, the black STAR sentry, and a Humanoid with a removable face mask/helmet.

I got mine today (both sets) and these are the BEST! I had the original toys, still have an original VINCent (missing front arms), never got a BOB, lost my Max, but I’ve waited 40 years for the definitive toys of these guys and, well - here they are! I am so happy I preordered these (through EE) and have been eagerly awaiting them and this morning was Christmas again! Your video is great (had to see if anyone else got theirs, reviewed them, etc) and as great as your review is they really need to be handled to appreciate them, their detail, the exchangeable parts, their SIZE (they’re bigger than I expected!), etc. BOB is VERY heavy! I love the soft plastic used for the bits, so everything is easy to put in/take out but isn’t loose, everything stays “tight” so there’s no fear of loose bits falling off randomly (at least on my guys) I have another set preordered through Amazon, which I’m keeping for posterity. These are so beautiful that if I ever see them “in the wild” I may snatch up a 3rd set of VINCent & BOB! If you’re a BH fan and love these robots & toys - get these now! They’re everything you’ve been waiting for!

One of my fave movies. I'm in the UK and thought I'd never get a hold of these but I did and I'm just absolutely stoked as they look totally awesome. I had the old 70s figures and still have a Maximilian in a box in my attic.....along with an Ernest Borgnine and a sentry. Could never get a Vincent so this is my first and I love it. I'd love to see a Star figure and a 2-pack of the Sentry Robots. But I won't hold my breath as I read that after the three here, that was it for this line. Hopefully though, DST might have a change of heart and give us fans a second wave.

Huge fan of The Black Hole here. Pre-ordered these and I love them! I had a few of the original line back in 1980 (still have em) but as you said, there's been no merch since then and it's great we finally have these awesome figures. I also picked up the Diamond Select Vinimates versions of Max and Vincent, they're smaller and more cartoony and I love them too! (And I will be buying another Max because long story short, I didn't get the one that comes with that sweet base and the extra effects!). Love the idea of STAR and the others, would buy them in a heartbeat! (Hope Diamond Select reads these things!)

I got mine two days ago and I love them, I only wish the backdrop came with both sets instead of half and half to make only one backdrop, the three black brick shape pieces are to join two backdrops together which makes it look like they were going to give you a whole backdrop with each set at one time then broke it up, wish I could get more without buying more figures.

I was never a big fan of the film, just watched it for the first time in years on Disney+. However, I did have the Mego Maximillian, Vincent and Sentry as a kid. They often mingled with the Star Wars droids or the Micronauts.

Love this Scale and love the properties and attention to detail. So we are getting Wave 1 of TRON and Wave 1 of The Black Hole finally after 40 years...Amazing! I have spoken directly with Diamond Select and they do confirm that if these first waves are successful, there will be more to come. I would love to see other properties tackled by SD in this scale as well and can think of nothing more obvious than the OG Battlestar Galactica, Cylons anyone? Silver and Gold? How about a Lucifer too along with a mechanical Dagget?

It was interesting I remember seeing The Black Hole and I never thought of it as being a Star Wars wanna be. I thought of it like the story of the 20,000 Leagues under the sea but more bad ass and what a twist seeing those humanoids with the unveiling showing who and what they were. Perfection.

@@megomego-likemaven4650 he did had color fading, shadowing effect and grime on his recessed parts but he never had scratched paint showing silver metal underneath not even when VINCent drill a hole in his chest... you NEVER see any silver on Maximillian except for his blades. I have the latest version of the movie mind you and a HD set. The damage you may see in pictures of the production prop in display these days is from manipulation over the years and NOT for the movie. The production prop has accumulated dust on some recessed areas of the sculpt that may look like like metal showing under scratches in the paint borders but its not, its just dust. Diamond Select used pictures of the production model being displayed and thought the silver scratches damage was accurate. Max’s sculpt is indeed not exactly accurate. They made him thicker, no armpit concave spaces and sculpted two lines on his face that where not on the production model (but where on the original design sketch), also the leg ailerons are straight and squared and the movie model had rounded ailerons...

I liked 'The Black Hole' as a kid, but I wasn't batshit crazy about it; Star Wars still ruled the roost at my home. I still like it, but pretty much as a guilty pleasure. The human characters were pretty much dull and the movie as a whole is rather plodding.. But I still plan to pick these up. Now all I need to do is get rid of my crappy Anchor Bay version of the DVD and track down the Blu-Ray.

The Articulation began with the Micronauts line, GI Joe was famously based on some Mego CHiPs figures. Disney had a weird policy on guns at the time, so the figures didn't come with blasters.

If you are reading this, Disney and Diamond Select, I will buy ANY figures you release of the Black Hole. A two pack containing a Humanoid and a Red Sentry robot would allow for great army building. Star should be on a card by himself. The Black Hole is the GREATEST. Why don't we have a BluRay release with all the wonderful deleted scenes, behind the scenes photos and production footage that Disney must hold in its archives?

The only feedback I have is doing more to show the scale. That shot with the old toy in there was enough for me but otherwise, I couldn't relate to what you were calling "huge". 7" tall? 10" tall? Minor criticism to an otherwise great effort. Thank you!
