Disney XD's DuckTales: "DayTrip of Doom" Review

I like that once they realized the kids were in danger Beakly and Donald immediately put their problems aside to try and save them.

Very nice take. I really enjoyed the interaction between Donald and Mrs. Beakley. In many ways, they both were right. Beakley was treating Donald exactly like he was one of the kids who nearly wrecked the house during the war game and outright told him that a full grown adult, Donald, taking care of himself was not his decision to make. On the other hand, Donald started being disrespectful when Beakley was getting into his face. In many ways, it was fun watching Donald try to avoid the conflict with Beakley by taking his living accommodations to the house boat in the pool so he was out of Beakley's way, but because the boat was in the pool and still in the mansion, was still affecting the water and the electricity, and his attempts to go off the grid so he wouldn't have to follow Beakley's rules ended up causing himself even more problems in a classic Donald Duck manner was hilarious. It wasn't just Donald being Donald. It was Donald exercising his independence as an adult from an overbearing woman who genuinely meant well and had some very serious concerns about the fire hazards and plumbing issues Donald was inadvertently causing. Of course, just like the premiere, for every scene we had of Donald being goofy, we had a scene of him being epic. We see him pretty much start beating up the Beagle Boys when Ma Beagle warned them about Beakley. Beakley didn't even take Donald seriously until he brought the pain to the Beagle Boys and said to herself in disbelief that Donald really could take care of himself. It was a nice closing to their conflict, where Donald learns from Beakley how to power his boat and take care of it without inconveniencing her and she giving him the freedom to act as he needs to as an adult, along with a newfound respect for him. I also loved that Donald was shown to be suspicious when Beakley said she was a spy. He didn't have to say anything. It was all in the animation and the way his laugh broke off. So yeah, the episode was about Webby and her learning about being a kid with the triplets, but the small moments with Donald and Beakley served as a nice backdrop along with character growing moments for them as well.

Congratulations, you're on your way to becoming the KZbin Ducktales guy. ^_^ There are worse things to be known for. And personally, I like your look at the show a lot! Day Trip was a good starting episode, but in the order they were aired, the first half of Ducktales looks way more like "Webbigail Vanderquack & Friends" than I think was originally intended. Don't get me wrong, the new Webby's still awesome, but I feel like she DOES suffer a bit from the overexposure early on. It might be interesting to see how Ducktales would have looked had the episodes been aired in their original, intended order. Up to you, though, I'll be interested either way. ^_^

I know she suffers from that for me. I like her, but she's almost too neurotic at times and too much of that gets grating. Disney is so stupid for airing things out of order. I guess it's a good thing the Della Duck subplot is so sporadic or that could really be an issue (though I wish it was touched on more than it is). Although the Magica subplot is impacted as well.

Speaking of the episodes being aired in the way they are, do you think the episode about Toth-Ra was the second part in a two-part episode? The beginning sure makes it seem that way, but it would be very strange if the first part airs later in the season than the second.

You should list all your fave episodes in order. Like at the end of each review, you place the episode you just reviewed on a list of all the episodes with your most favorites ranking first and least ranking last. Of course, all the episodes are so good that it'd probably be hard to rank them all.

You should review "The Impossible Summit of Mt. Neverrest!" next. It would be way more insightful to review the episode in their intended airing order instead of the weird mix Dixney XD made just so they could air the episode with snow in it in december. Especially since all the episodes of the first half of the season have aired already, it's now possible to patch them back in the correct order.

I didn't dislike this episode or anything, but it felt like a bit of a low coming off of Woo-oo. I loved the later half of it though, with Donald and Beakly teaming up to save the kids. I love this more heroic and kind-hearted Donald.

Rebooting this episode is incredible my favourite character is webby she's just like me but with the boys Dewey is my favourite he has this role that he saves webby while Louie says no l kind of thought that Dewey is the oldest but I saw that Huey is great job Seannicus

My favorite part of the episode was: Donald: (triggered) *GIVE ME BACK MY BOYS!!!!!!* I LOVE IT, and thats the reason because i love Donald in the reeboot, he cares so much about the triplets, he didnt want to lose them like he lost her sister

The only episode i didn't like so far is the terra-firmians episode. I remember the original comic and it was a really disapointing episode for me. The last two episodes "the living mummies" and "the mount neverest" was good episodes, but i will like to see Donald on it. And less of this Launchpad guy.

So far, Disney has been pretty cool about this -- but yeah, I'm well aware that any moment content ID could come along and kill me. That's one of the reasons I try to only use 10-15 second clips at a time and not summarize the episode to an extent that tells you the story. Fair use is a pretty nebulous thing, haha
