I find it so strange that the movie had the MACUSA show so much dislike to muggles and was so against wizards/witches marrying non magic people seeing as Ilvermorny was made by 4 people, one of which was a non magic person married to a witch. And he built the wands and was even headmaster for a small time.

An interesting thing I haven’t seen anyone else point out is the fact that Gyro isn’t the only one who’s “in the wrong” in terms of how he perceives Boyd. While not to the same extent, the episode shows that Fenton was in the wrong too. While in Dr Akita’s old lab, Huey asks Fenton if he also thinks that Boyd is just a “dangerous machine”. At this point, we already know what Huey thinks: That Boyd, despite his eccentricities, is just as much of a person as he is. For this reason, I found that Fenton responding with (something among the lines of) “he’s a machine that can be used for good” a little jarring. Fenton sees the best in people, so he clearly doesn’t see Boyd as a monster, but he still sees him as a “weapon”. I’m not saying that Fenton’s a bad person by any means (he’s one of my favourite side characters), and he absolutely has good intentions, but it’s clear that he’s not in the right in this situation (we see this when his attempts at de-escalating Boyd’s havoc spree fails miserably, and how Boyd only returns to normal when Gyro begins to treat him like a real person).

It's interesting how this is an inverse of the typical "The gift may not be glamorous, but it's the thought that counts" lesson, yet the moral is essentially the same. This time it's "The gift may not be PRACTICAL, but it's the thought that counts", and it's interesting when you think about it. Whether a present is practical or glamorous ultimately doesn't matter; in the end, it's a material object either way. The value of a material object will eventually wear out; but for those who recognize the spirit in which the gift is given, they have a memory of the giver's kindness that, for the most part, endures for life.

Late to the party but this really explains it. First time I came across Satori mountain I probably spent 2 hours just exploring every corner of it to find a secret entrance or something. It felt as if something was missing, and this explains why. It was supposed to feel that way, the feeling of something/someone missing was intentional. Beautiful.

This episode provides a good example of, regardless of how Scrooge's values have changed, there's one core tenet he's always held: fairness. Traditionally, Scrooge wasn't known for being nice or morally right; but he always prided himself on the fact that he earned every bit of his wealth fair and square, or legally at the very least. In his mind, people are due what they deserve. Scrooge was arrogant and greedy, but his enemies were arrogant, greedy, dishonest, AND sadistic. Still, there's no denying that Scrooge's arrogance led him to going overboard. He left Glomgold out in the middle of the ocean on a pile of rocks surrounded by Sharks where he could have died from starvation or pneumonia, leading him to his infamous obsession with Sharks. After beating Pappy Beagle at arm wrestling and exposing him as a cheater; he needlessly rubbed his victory in Lil' Ma's face, prompting her to step up and lead the Beagle family to become bigger criminals. As for Magica, even if one was to argue that Scrooge wasn't obligated to help Magica recover her brother; Scrooge took advantage of her impulsive nature by mocking her for her reliance on family (her brother), which prompted her to fire the blast that ended up turning Poe into a raven. This may have influenced her treatment of Lena, if not solely because she was her shadow; but I feel this is why Scrooge ended up feeling regret for his lack of sympathy of Magica. He belittle her value of family, a value that he himself would later learn to appreciate; and now that he valued family more than ever, he regrets merely saying something like that.

I did like how Dewey's audition played upon the fact that, between the Duck Brothers and Webby, he's by default the dumb guy. Huey's a nerd, Louie's an opportunist, and Webby's a geek; but Dewey's just a showboat. All three of the Duck Brothers are egotistic in some way. Huey wants to assert that his way is the right way, Dewey wants to prove that he's cool, and Louie wants to get what he wants with minimal effort. However, while Huey has the smarts to back himself up and Louie has the wits to spot what he can exploit, Dewey's ego is backed purely by confidence. He's not stupid per say, but he comes off that way when compared to his brothers and Webby.

I like how they straight up skipped to Fenton already knowing Gandra's secret and being okay with it. Their relationship started and almost ended with Gandra being revealed to work for a villain, and it nearly broke Fenton's heart. Clearly she didn't want that to happen again and knew it could happen, since Fenton is a superhero; thus, she came clean with him in secret some time off screen to prevent that.

I do like the acknowledgement of the value coal back in the old days. It might not have been a glamorous gift; but before the 2nd industrial revolution, it was the most energy efficient source of heat in wide use. Winter was brutal back then, with pneumonia and hypothermia being much more life threatening. For a house in need of heat back then, a single lump of coal could have meant a difference between life and death. Even today, though Webby questioned it, not everyone has the conveniences of a middle class American; the house of the little girl who made a doll out of the coal made that apparent.

I know the punishment was for Louie's own good: He needed to be punished for almost destroying the family but everything that's happened to him, namely that recording Della said to him: He's been working so hard to figure out how he belonged in the family of adventurers after feeling like he didn't fit in, and he managed to find that in seeing all the angles which inspired him to start Louie Inc. But then his mother (the one who abandoned him for so long and doesn't know anything about him) bans Louie Inc. from the family and tells him that if he wants to be a part of his family, he must give up the one thing that made him feel like he belonged to it in the first place, basically crushing his spirit and making him an outsider again. What I feared was that if she said this 'If you want to be a part of this family' speech to Louie in front of the Family, they wouldn't bring themselves to defend him (which would be a betrayal on Scrooge's end because he was the one who told Louie about his gift and supported his dreams) which would only serve to alienate Louie from his family (maybe even turn on them). I know Louie and Della made up in the end but since the whole conflict felt rushed, it just made me think that this horrible person is who Della is and some other fanfics have made me worry that she might just repeat those mistakes with him until it tears the family apart again.

It's interesting re-watching this theory after all these years and now that I have watched the whole series I have a theory of why no one found Della being stranded on the moon. As we've learned in the Last Adventure, Bradford Buzzard was responsible for Della discovering the Spear. I like to believe that he also made sure the astronauts Scrouge sent reported negative results. Most of them could have been F.O.W.L. agents or that he bribed them. Buzzard wanted to make sure the Duck family would have been separate permanently. I also believe that he was responsible for the death of Duckworth, but that's another theory.

I don't know if you'll read message, in 2024, but sorry, I completely disagree with your take on bombie and Scrooge. Rather than being some kind of instrument of some mysterious curse that nobody knows anything about, the original bombie serves as a reminder that Scrooge is not a good, hard-working, self-made billionaire who became rich by being "tougher than the toughies, smarter than the smarties, sharper than the sharpies and made it square." In the don rosa's origins of Scrooge, it's revealed that in his quest to become the richest duck in the world, Scrooge became impatient, tired of always be honest and decided to take shortcuts, exploit people, become a con artist. And after an African village refuses to leave their land and chased Scrooge, in an access of hateful rage, he hired thugs to burn down the village and deceived the village chief to sell the land. Scrooge committed the unforgivable, which led to his sisters to break up with him, and to be pursuit by bombie, as a reminder of his sin. And it's great! There's nothing "problematic" with that. Not only it shows that terrible actions have dire consequences, that you can't become a billionaire by simply being honest, it also humanises Scrooge: It shows that he's not pure and irreproachable, he can do terrible things, and then, pay the consequences. That's why, imo, don rosa's Scrooge and bombie are, all things considered, a far better version than the ones of the ducktales reboot.

The 1987 DuckTales had the original shadow wars episode where the shadow trapped Magica in a closet and Magica told her crow to go get help and it goes and get Scrooge and told Scrooge the only way that he can get rid of the shadow creature is Magica and his number one died so Lena’s not the first shadow creature to come to life in DuckTales at the end of that episode from the 1987 series that shadow creature is left as a mystery

i have to wonder if both weren't the tribute... if the people that made the game knew him, they'd know different sides of his personality. they'd know the frightened wanderer burdened by his fear of death, and the brash, fun creative that made everyone smile with his antics. just a thought. but i know if i were to put Robin Williams in a game, i don't think one character would be enough... he wasn't the NPC type... may as well capture as much of him as you can.

What i love about the amnesia episode was how they did his return to evil. Other media have the villain simply remember they were evil and go back to it, but glomgold was shown to always have an issue with ambition. Maybe he didnt care about scrooge anymorem but he was going to blow up a rival fishing business with dynamite. He might have forgotten his old ways, but his core issues were never solved. Duke is glomgold
