My niece gets a shoe box size plastic storage bin and keeps in pantry. Every new art piece replaces the exsisting on the fridge the old ones go in the bin. When its full (usually every 3-4 months) they sit down and she picks her fave her hudband pics his fave and my niece gets to choose her top 3 faves and those go to the memory box. The rest go into recycling so the recycling friends make new paper so she can make new art. Explaining recycling makes new paper for her and her friends to make more art on, makes the throwing out alot easier. She actually gets excited about it.

For kids’ art, setup a memory box where you keep your faves and strategically toss the rest (maybe once a week in trash day). If you think Grace is old enough have her pick the best ones so she can build the decluttering muscle and have the box be the limit on how much you keep.

for all the art- once I realized that I had 100's of art pieces I had to come up with something. I decided to keep up to 12 of the most special projects each year, and all the others I ended up taking photos of and made a book for each year. Now that my daughter is almost 14 (in 2 weeks) we LOVE looking back thru each book. Hope this helps!

Art suggestion - Give each kid a bulletin board for the most recent works, and as the newer pieces replace the old ones, take a photo of each piece of the old art before throwing out, that way years later the kids can look back on their progress. They will love seeing how much their skills grow, especially as their signatures and drawn family portraits become more detailed and realistic. My adult son and I still have a great laugh looking back on pictures he drew of me, with arms and legs that came directly out of my head. This is particularly effective for three dimensional art, which is nearly impossible to store. You can even get a printed book of their gallery with various print services.

To your question at 5:12 - I get the artist to select 2-3 of their favorites for display for the week, take pictures (or scan) of everything else, and put them into a running PowerPoint so we can all remember them forever. I started doing this for myself with my letters and cards, as they started taking up too much space, and it has been a great system.

As for the art, with four kids spanning ten years, I photograph and then toss 99% of it. It’s a good opportunity to talk about the importance of memories and experiences rather than things. For the items that we do save, I have a frame on the wall for each child with a multi-sized set of mats inside so that I can frame and hang their art. I just put new projects infront of the old ones. When it’s full, I ask the kids to decide which ones they want to keep in a folder in their memory box and which ones we can get rid of (after a photo) from there.

Loved the transitions between Sierra and Stephen in this vlog! I'm not a mom but I can share what my sister did. The kids' favourite pieces got displayed in the kitchen and in the family room and everything else went into a big box. Pretty sure some of it was recycled into birthday and Christmas gift wrapping paper so their art was shared with other friends/family and then as they got older, the bins were emptied into the recycling box regularly. Having said that, I'm not too sure my nephews were ever really that attached to their paper art projects so this is what worked best for them.

I wish I would have started this when my daughter was little: Take a high quality picture of the art. Then make a photo book of the year In shutter fly. If that's too many books you could always condense it or change it to fit your needs. But you can have access to way more of the girls' art work and progression this way. Have a small memory box with those super special ones that you keep the physical ones of.

Hey Sierra! For cooler running weather, I’d recommend a long sleeve! I try and go for sweat wicking material. I go for a long sleeve that was as it gets even colder you can layer! I also live in Wisconsin so it’s much more cold here hahaha. I like brands like gymshark or adidas. To be honest, I thrift a lot of my run long sleeves! Also, if you’re anything like me, I get warm when I run! I always dress as if it’s 10 degrees warmer than it is.

Take pictures of the kid's art so you can still cherish the memories, especially since you like photo albums, but only keep the ones you think will bring joy to everyone when you bring them out a decade (or two) from now.

Get a clear plastic bin for each child and let that be there memory bin. If you use that as your limit you can only keeps what fits and you won't just use it for art ....so only keep the art that has sentimental value. Recycle the rest :) Also they make these picture frames that open and you can just keep adding art to display. Don't know how much it holds though.

Art- take a photo of your child holding their artwork with a proud smile. Then….get ready, throw it out. I saw “duplicates” of the same art, those are easier to get rid of. Save the art that is sentimental like Mother’s Day, or the first time they actually draw a human figure. WhatsUpMoms channel has a KZbin video about kids art. They suggest to store it in a box that is labeled PreK to when they graduate elementary school. I’ve seen other parents take photos of the art and make photobooks from it. All great ideas, it’s a matter of how much time you want to invest. Advice coming from a mom of 5. I take photos, throw it out and keep the super special ones in a filing cabinet.

Concerning all that great artwork that comes home from school. As a preschool teacher I have seen parents handle this in several ways. Some mothers will photograph the artwork and then load it into a photo book through Snapfish or other companies when those options go on sale. The photos of the artwork can becompiled into a computer file for each year of school and accumulate as the child grows and developes their creative expression. Some moms have created collage walls in their child's room to display projects throughout the year. I always kept a box for my own son's school work throughout the year and then at the end of the year I put back a number of things into a scrapbook or portfolio of his artwork and reports or awards. I saved these until he was a young adult and then photographed everything I felt was "save" worthy and tossed the rest. Other ideas are printing drawings onto shirts or sweatshirts for gifts for grandparents or other family, or onto cloth to sew pillows or totes. As Grace goes through school certain projects will grow on you and you will know what you want to save.

My kids bring home so many papers from school. We heat our house with wood. So when my kids bring all their papers home and show me, they divide them into two piles. One for keep, one for heat, lol. I have a box i use for the special ones I want to keep for me. I gave them a small box to put the papers they want to keep and when that box gets full, we will go through it again and decide what is for keep and what's for heat!
