Some time ago I modified some of the older monorails for an American so multiple monorails can run on the same track at any time. Ever since then I've been fascinated by monorails and want to get myself one of these, however I've not been able to find a set in my Country. No company seems to ship them to the Netherlands. :(

Yes, it's nice that Disney added remote control, but the one they did is very, very basic on-off. There are aftermarket mod instructions that allow anyone with an original plain vanilla WDW monorail playset to upgrade it to speed variable remote control using inexpensive RC aircraft components. The latter allow you to get more realistic operation (train can slow when approaching a station and slowly get back up to speed when leaving). Also, instructions out there allow one to replace the crap stock motor in these monorials with a Tamiya hyper-dash 2, which is much more powerful and responsive. Trains modified with those can move along a fast clip, unlike the cheap, toy-like crawl of the stock versions.

Besides the red color you have they also made this monorail in orange. They only made 2 colors of the monorail for disneyland.

This was build very sleek and fast, by Bombardier. Both the Mark VI and VII are made by the same, just 1 is a default monorail, the mark vii is futuristic.

How are the announcements controlled? Do they play randomly while the train is in motion, or is there an option to run the monorail with no audio?

Kasatka Tilikum Good question! If you look at the remote in the video, there is a yellow Mickey-shaped button labeled "sound." Just press the sound button and the monorail will say one of the three different announcements!
