Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is now open at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and will open at Disneyland on November 15, it’s based on the 2009 Disney animated movie 🍿 The Princess and the Frog, takes place after the events of the film, located in Critter Country (soon to be renamed to Bayou Country) and replaced Splash Mountain

Something about the Disneyland version seems more... vibrant both on the outside and inside with the lighting during night, then the magic kingdom version, doesn't it or am I just crazy?

What is the story of the ride? Going to a party? Why do they make you small and what is the purpose of foods or being in a salt mine? Is that explained?

@@cvdelsanto Some aspects are of it a little strange, most can be answered by Disney wanting to reuse much of Splash Mountain’s existing infrastructure.

From E-Ticket to Eek-Ticket. The story is lame and the finale song doesn't make sense. The story should've been Tiana trying to save the bayou riders from the revenge of The Shadow Man. It would add a sense of thrill and magic to the ride. Tiana invites you to a bayou bash party at her place, but you have to go down the bayou to get there. She warns you to be careful because The Shadow Man has been rumored to be lurking around, seeking revenge. The Shadow Man traps you and turns you into a frog (the shrinking part). When you go down the small drop you'll see other frogs (and have a "reflection" of your log passing by, showing you as a frog). Tiana and Lewis find you (Looking in on you in the screen section) and tell Mama Odie to help. Before the lift-hill to the final drop, you see Mama Odie and The Shadow Man fighting with magic, and she wins and starts a spell to make you back to normal (you would go up the lift hill). Mama Odie is at the top of the lift-hill assuring that you've been turned back to your regular self and sends you down to the party. Tiana and friends are there celebrating your arrival.

They should have left splash mountain alone. This new theme is a big disappointment. The amount of money to refurbish the ride was a big waste. Now they rename critter country based on that movie which was a big disappointment. Walt Disney is probably turning in his grave right now. They are going to destroy the rivers of America after they just spent millions to reshape it for galaxy edge. No more Tom Sawyer island and fantasmic. Say goodbye to the pirate ship, the canoes, as well as the riverboat.

They are only closing rivers of america in Florida which is a great idea btw. Walt wasn’t alive long enough to see that copying Disneylands rides and placing them in Florida was not so easy. The climate and environment cause so much issues for something like Rivers of America. It shouldn’t have been there in the first place. But due to budget constraints they couldn’t just fix it right away. They had already spent tons of money just converting the land from swamp land. I don’t think they’ll ever get rid of the river in disneyland. Even if they did though, they would likely wait until this new generation is a little older and the previous generations are gone. Change is inevitable. I personally love the fact they replaced Splash Mountain. The animatronics, lighting, pacing, ride queue all look great. Splash mountain used to be great, but it was old and dated. It was time. I think Disney realized a long time ago, that only sticking to nostalgia really hampers excitement. There needs to be a balance, which is why Indy, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, Pirates, and fantasyland have remained the same. But at the same time build Galaxy’s edge, Pandora, Monstropolis, Avengers Campus etc.
