It's a crying shame that they put the Star Wars overlay on Space Mountain, and didn't keep the original Jules Verne 'From the Earth to the Moon' theming. I haven't done it since the Hyperspace Mountain overlay, but did the original version and 'Mission 2' that came slightly later. Hyperspace looks like a hollow shell of what the ride was before.

I agree with almost all of what you say. The Paris park is the best “castle park” Disney has built. The attention to detail is off the scale. However, you got one thing wrong: the park did big attendance numbers from its very first year. It was always popular. It was the 5000 hotel rooms they built next to it that dragged down the bottom line. They used the Florida model of needing their own hotel rooms without noticing that Orlando in the 70’s and 80’s was much smaller than Paris. It was a big mistake to build so many hotels next to a city that, unlike Orlando, already had plenty of hotels. People stay in Paris and make day trips to Disney, not the other way around.

I love this park for all the reasons you mentioned. Definitely has the best Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain (in its original theme). One of my favorite unique features is the arcade passageways on either side of Main Street that I don’t think I discovered until my second visit. They each have beautiful architecture and I love the gas lamps. You can definitely tell that legend Tony Baxter designed the park with his passionate attention to detail. There are some great interviews with him that highlight the care that went into the park to make it the best it could be. The original vision for Discoveryland was incredible and it’s sad that it’s slowly being taken over by Disney Star Wars.

Fun fact. The terrible Indiana Jones coaster may have been built by Intamin but the layout was designed by a name you either love or hate in this industry. Pinfari. Pinfari was even the original company of choice to build it but their schedules were fully booked and they didnt have time to build a ride for Disney. So instead they contracted it out to Intamin. In 2023, Disney D-Light debuted for the 30th anniversary. (The first drone show at Disneyland Paris, which is a 10 minutes pre-show) Later in 2023, Disney Dreams was brought back by popular demand, being part of the Grand Finale of the 30th anniversary. And recently, Disney Electrical Sky Parade debuted, replacing Disney D-Light.

The vision they had to bring everything from the American parks to Europe in a more beautiful and spectacular way has really paid off. Personally, I would consider Frontierland to be the best land, BigThunder Mountains island and the whole lore around Phantom Manor is just great. Discoveryland is unfortunately no longer quite what the original idea of the area was. Hyperspace Mountain is still a great roller coaster, but the loveless Star Wars theme is simply out of place. It would be nice to see an extra Galaxies Edge, then Discoveryland could be brought back to its former glory. In the Studios, only Ratatouille and the Tower of Terror are really great.

I visited this park for the first time in early december, and it blew my mind! Imo, it's definitely a better version of Magic Kingdom (except Phantom Manor, I'd take Haunted Mansion over it). Discoveryland and the Pirates lands were the highlights for me! Idk if I agree with you about the park needing a new coaster, since Big Thunder and Space Mountain is a pretty good top 2 and the park isn't necessarily centered on coasters, I think the park really needs a new dark ride or a simulator. Replacing the Indiana Jones coaster for the EMV dark ride would be the perfect fit imo

I have a plan like this to fix the entire park. $2 Billion Investment Discoveryland - Retheme Space Mountain back to "From the Earth to the Moon" and give the queue line proper theming. Also, fix the damn cannon. - Replace Buzz Lightyear with a new ride/show themed to Jules Verne. Have the ride system be the same as Danse Macabre at Efteling. - Replace Star Tours and Mickey's Philharmagic with a "Journey to the Center of the Earth" clone from Tokyo Disneysea or - Soarin, but themed to "Around the World in 80 Days." - Update the Mysteries of The Nautilus again and put all the Jules Verne references back, to include the squid attack. Fantasyland - "Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast" clone along with the restaurant "Be Our Guest." This gives Disneyland Paris a true dark ride. Adventure Land - Keep the theming but replace "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril" with a brand new extreme coaster from Intamin. Something like Taron or Velocicoaster. Frounterland - A brand new log flume/Splash Mountain not themed to any Disney IP. Have it continue the the story of Fronterland (or have it explain the area better!) If Disney did all this, I'd then argue day and night it over Disneyland Paris being the best Disney park period.

Good to see investment in the Studio park, but it'd be nice to see a little something for the castle park too - they have several expansion spaces available in most of the lands, they just need that investment to keep the momentum going.

1: You didn't comment on the weatherproofing of the park. Because Paris is notoriously rainy, they created many covered areas. As you go down Main Street, there are arcades on both sides behind the storefronts. Most of the rides have queues that are covered. 2: Paris is the only park serving alcohol openly, not just in restaurants. One of the faults of EuroDisney when it opened was no wine. Now, there are carts serving Champagne on Main Street. 3: I was at the Park late one night and got on Indiana Jones, thinking is was just a dark ride. While you may not like the ride, but I got a fright when I couldn't see the track and it did a loop. Mon dieu! Where did that come from?

Wow, I gotta get back there. I was at both Paris Disney parks just under 20 years ago, and the day was a blur. But I do remember loving the Space Mountain uphill launch, and that the Indiana Jones coaster was running backwards at the time - I am a sucker for anything backwards, especially a vertical loop, but I could see how basic and janky it would be just running forwards. We didn't have a lot of time that day, so I definitely did not get to appreciate all the little things you mentioned, which I would easily highlight on a future visit.

I believe they don't update the lineup because the castle park crushes almost any other park in Europe and France. People are attracted here because of the IPs alone, they don't know a lot about the rides here. That's why updates are focused on details like shows, merch, food, meet n' greets, that builds up the whole experience they're selling. Hopefully, this will have to change when Universal will open its UK park, Disney will have to keep up against this brand new competitor. They won't be able to rely on their brands alone, and would probably add new rides.
@Juup200310 ай бұрын
This is not true, Europe has many parks with many big attractions. Disneyland is attractive due to it’s legendary status under the name “Disney” that is held up by a park that is indeed good. But if you look up parks like “Europapark” “phantasialand” and “Efteling. You will see that there are parks on the same level or above as Disney.
@alphawinnergx912710 ай бұрын
@@Juup2003 I definitely agree that Europe has a lot of parks on the same level as Disney. However, I tend to think that these parks still don't get as popular as Disney because they don't have the same cultural significance. For instance, I believe that Phantasialand is even better than Disney in terms of rides, theming and experience, but I have never heard about it before becoming an enthusiast. That's why I think that Disney stands so much above other destination parks, because they deliver a cultural experience, as opposed to other destination parks that only deliver excellent park experiences. So, that's why I say Universal could be a serious competitor against Disney, as they're the only ones to offer a cultural experience of that caliber. Unlike EP, Port Aventura, Phantasialand... , parks like Disney and Universal appeal to more than park goers, they can target a wider IP fans audience.

And if they wanted a little more variation with their version so that's a little more thrilling, they could just make the drops a little longer and steeper.

This is followed by Windsor Castle, a castle that is actually one of the residences of the British Royal Family and one of the most-famous non-French castles in the world. The third castle you show - this one's going to hurt - is part of the Tower of London. Did you maybe go digging through the wrong folder? (Been there...) The castles that are local to the locals would be: Château de Fontainebleau Château de Chantilly Château de Pierrefonds Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte Château de Vincennes (I've been to none of the French castles... 2025!... but I've been to Windsor and the Tower of London, which is why I noticed.)

And if you ever go to Futuroscope for the one credit they have, there are all kinds of great fairy-tale castles nearby, which is where Disney gets many of its ideas for its own castles. And Disneyland Paris wanted in the 2000s a Toy Story themed attraction because in the 2000s was Toy Story very popular and Buzz Lightyear was more popular than Woody in the 2000s because of the DVD release of Toy Story's 10th anniversary special DVD in 2005 and the Buzz Lightyear tv show so they made that attraction because Buzz Lightyear was very popular at the time and it's true Toy Story was very popular in the 2000s that's why they made a 3rd Toy Story movie in 2010 and Toy Story was even more popular in Europe in the 2000s.🇪🇺🤷🏼♂️

Also 100% agree that Indiana Jones is a terrible roller coaster.
