Seriously. I love that Moana is such a strong female role model. But even more so, I love the message this scene sends. That you don't have to fight and defeat the "bad guy." That by identifying with someone and showing compassion and understanding, you can help someone heal and not be the "bad guy" anymore. Now THAT is the message that kids these days need to be raised with!

Not gonna lie, I cried during this scene. It was just perfect and the message, as I understand it, is so strong. Does anyone else feel like Moana is directly singing this to the audience? We all had moments in our lives that made us forget who we are; either because of a traumatic incident that scarred them, or life has become so harsh that you had to become harsh yourself. I see this song as Moana talking to the audience about how they should never forget who they are, and remember their actual character. It's a good message to people who have suffered from identity crises.

I am in tough position, that I know will get better, in trying to find a good job. I worked so hard to get where I am. Now, I am having a hard time finding a job worthy--a good stepping stone for my future. It's tough being vulnerable, waiting for someone, an employer in this case, to see how bright I can actually shine. This process will make me stronger. I was watching with my kids. I thought the movie was great: funny, ecological,a little twist at the end, she faces the Great Towering Monster unarmed, and then it happened. The song from her infancy plays, she looks dead at me (that's how it felt) and says: "They have stolen the heart from inside you." Right there, my childhood showed up. All the traumas. And all the ones that came after. All the moments every survivor knows, where praying nor begging worked. Where no hero showed up. And Love did not save the day. "But this does not define you." Fire, Smoke, and Burning Rage wash over her like the End of the World. And she's calm. "This is not who you are." I couldn't move. I was paralyzed and staring. 'You know who You are." " Who you Really Are." If you know what I know, and felt as I felt, then we ALL have different stories about what happened in our heads after that. No need to explain, brothers and sisters. The history behind THAT song says it all (Look it up. You're not wrong for feeling this.)

So, lets talk about Teka. How many of us have not been Teka in some point in our life? Something that made us look like the evil one, made us be sad, depress, or even loose our right estate of Mind to a point that we are fill with anger and resentment, that, we really truly end up looking like Teka. Reasons to why may be many: ending of a relationship (or worst still be in a bad one); feeling like a bad parent; having to grow up too soon; lost of a love one; being lost in our own body; lost a great job; you fail in school... endless reasons. Yes, this scene is a movie, but how we feel is reality, Moana is just a character in a movie, but if you think about it, Moana at this scene can be a good friend talking to you, a stranger or if you believe in karma or if I dare to say even God whichever you believe on: they have stolen the heart from inside you ( or your happiness ), but this does not define you ( the burden that we are carrying on), (the sadness anger inside) this is not who you are, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ♡♡♡☆☆☆

Seriously it was hard work to keep from bawling my eyes out at this scene. My heart broke for Te Fiti because she had become so corrupted from the betrayal that she became a monster to others as a way to protect what was left (or try to gain back what she lost). And Moana was the only one to see it. She was the only one who wasn't afraid of her and took the time to see just how hurt she was to become what she was. But seriously. I did everything I could to not cry. But I will be damned if I don't sing along and feel the tremors from the subtle but sheer power each time I play this damn song. I wish it was longer so I could listen to more

This song applies to so much. "they have stolen the heart from inside you but this does not define you this is not who you are you know who you are" just those lines are so important to those suffering from mental illness. Honestly, this song is everything I can't wait to see the movie

"They have stolen the heart from inside you" "But this does not define you" "This is not who you are" Something horrible happened to me at work which has eaten me up inside for the past two years... It made me angry and bitter towards many people, including myself... This part of the movie made me realize that what happened to me does not make me who I am. The bad thing that happened to me is not me. And I feel as if a heavy burden has been lifted from my heart. Thank you, Disney. Thank you, Moana.

So do I. Anger,hatred and revenge becuse of selfishness of people around me. discrimination makes me to a heartless and ferocious kind of being. I was the sweetest person they ever know before but it was change because of selfishness of the world.

I loved how Te Ka was always guarding her dead island behind her. She was already upset enough that someone robbed her of the one thing she cherished most, and so that's why she was so defensive of her island. She must've been afraid that they were trying to harm her even more. But this scene was so majestic and breathtaking! Te Ka finally had her heart back and found her purpose once again, and born again was Te Fitit. Best animation, feels, and overall scene in Disney!

Finally a movie that doesn't find "true" love. I know there's others(like Brave) but, Moana. Moana is finding herself. instead of finding love, it's finding yourself. "You know who you are". This movie deserves something grand.

Actually MOANA is my favorite Disney movie of all the Disney movies
@whossoul8 жыл бұрын
I'm with you there. I'm a mega Disney nerd, and I feel strongly about my classics. But after seeing this twice I feel confident saying that. The music. The idea of knowing where you are going when exploring the unknown by knowing where you come from. The strong female role model. Then to not try and defeat the "bad guy" but instead to identify with them and show them compassion, helping them instead of killing them....Disney has never made a movie with better messages.
@jaciharris77358 жыл бұрын
Moana is probably one of my top 3 Disney films, especially with Moana defeating the "bad guy (or girl)" with compassion and kindness. It's a great message!

If you're just talking about about disney princess movies, mulan will always be im my heart but same. If we're talking about all disney movies, the lion kings pretty high up there if not first.

Moana is a perfect Disney movie. You can really see that this movie was built on previous succesfull Disney installements, but even with some inprovements and modern story concepts. The sound and the visuals are really incredible and directly suck you into the movie. Frozen had one great song and the rest was ok (there were some flaws). This movie was much better and should be considered as a master piece of animation.

This and the “I Am Moana” sequence are what really made this movie for me. I was pleased to read so many comments of people who, like me, took some personal meaning from these scenes. It’s been said that’s it’s about the journey, not the destination. Aside from whatever goal you set out for, the greatest payoff is the person you have become in the process.
