Paper Jam is currently the final original Mario & Luigi game, and I’m probably one of the few people that doesn’t think it’s the worst game in the series. Sure, it’s not great, but no way in hell is it bad. What is bad is Charriii’s video about it. Not only are almost all of his points wrong but there are also editing mistakes all over the place. The whole thing is just a big mess, and it almost feels like he WANTED to end the series with a whimper instead of a bang. Sure, this reflects how people view Paper Jam, but that’d be like if his Sonic 06 video was filled with constant screen flickering, subtitles not appearing when they should, and the timer deciding to give up and freeze halfway through. Well, since he clearly didn’t care enough, I guess it’s our job to pick up the slack.

This was actually the first M&L game I ever played. It got me into the series so I don’t hate it as much as some other people do. Plus the battle system is probably the best it’s ever been. Although I do understand why other may not like it due to it not having any original characters from either series and the overall plot of just two Bowser’s being evil is lackluster, but it’s still not a bad game. And it definitely has its moments.

The whole point with this gag was to show how people view Luigi in comparison to Mario. Besides, Luigi has his moments in several games. Partners in Time: The Star Door apologizes to Luigi for making him feel worthless and admits that Luigi is a very capable person. After defeating Elder Princess Shroob, several Toads cheer for Luigi and give him the credit he deserves. Bowser's Inside Story: Starlow apologizes to Luigi after insulting him. Granted, Mario had to defend him, but that's their whole dynamic in general. Dream Team: At the start of the Giant Bowser battle, instead of acting scared like he's done every other time, he steels himself and stands with Mario in confidence against Bowser. Starlow even encourages him in the real world. Paper Jam: At the end, both of the Princess' kiss Luigi as a reward for saving the kingdom. That's the reason this gag works. It makes Luigi's best moments even better, and it's the people who ignore that who are in the wrong.

@@tonysonic456 Oh, I know exactly what the entire point of the gag was. Trust me, my man Luigi has all the respect put on his name from my end of the perspective. If you can believe it, Luigi’s character and his accomplishments here is a major inspiration for many of my own characters that I write, both in novel form and video game form. Make no mistake, I have played these games and loved the moments when Luigi was acknowledged and just had respect put on his name. Having said this: 1. This is just one of the many problems I have with Starlow as a character. I don’t like Starlow as a character in general, and her treatment of Luigi (gag or otherwise) is a major facet of why. 2. With perception and understanding did NOT empathy and enjoyment come. Not with this gag. I didn’t find this gag funny the first time it was played, and I just do not find this gag funny upon repeat number however.

Luigi being insulted might not be funny, but physical abuse can be a little funny like at the start of Dream Team when he attempted to jump onto the blimp but ended up jumping out into the air. In the end, the Luigi abuse does serve a purpose, and it's one of the reasons people love Luigi so much. Plus, Starlow has complimented and apologized to him every now and then. That being said, they have drained this gag dry. Hopefully, should a Mario & Luigi 6 happen, they stop.

@@DShy96 I 110% disagree with Tony. I'm just rewatching his mario and luigi dream team video and he overly defends it WAY too much. Even though he is fully aware that people don't like the gyro or one of the giant fights is hit or miss, he proceeds to slam chaarriii and others for not being as good as him, or say some shit like, "the gyro controls worked just fine for me." Like it's a sin for not having an easy experience like him. Yet he wants to get on Charriii for stating his opinions as facts on certain things, when he literally does it TWICE. and what's worse is that people agree with charriiii, too. He seriously only thinks about his own feelings. I understand that the experience may differ for everyone, but if tony is trying to act unbiased, this is not the way to go about it. If anything, instead of trying to critique charriii, he should actually LEARN from charriii. For example, in sonic 06, while charriii managed to beat the ball puzzle on his first try, he Still gave the game a sin for having a bullshit puzzle that most people agreed sucked ass. He's being fair. He did have his own opinion, but charriii handled it in a mature and non biased fashion, something that tony never seems to do. In other words, he takes others' feelings into account.

Which is something he does a lot, in case ya didn't know.) The fact that you went as far as to call it an "improper editing cliché" rather than a conscious choice in the editing, is a little bit odd to me.

30:03 Okay, where is the proof that Fawful's Minion threatened Charriii in regards to sinning the Dark Bowser fight in Bowser's Inside Story? You can't just throw accusations against other KZbinrs without proof of what you say. Your argument regarding Logan threatening Charriii doesn't have a leg to stand on as you just seemingly made that up for dramatic effect. I could be wrong and there might be proof, but if there is proof, show it in the video when you talk about it. Also, this is a problem I have with all five of your videos on him with the Mario & Luigi series, you assume that Charriii hates the final bosses anytime he does a "F this fight" sin. Back in your Partners in Time video where you brought up his KH3 ReMind video, he said that whenever he does one of those types of sins, he makes sure the community agrees it is a hard fight. He never said anything about hating the fight just because it is hard. You're reading way too much into subtext that isn't there. And before you say I'm being a 'toxic fan,' I'm not. I'm just trying to calmly point out errors in your own videos. Just because you mastered the Mario & Luigi series does not mean that you are perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and whenever one does make a mistake, they deserve to be called out on it, no matter how popular they are. It's good that you want to help clarify the mistakes Charriii makes in his videos, but you get WAY too hostile and angry at him for things that are ultimately subjective. Just calm down, stop insulting his skill level and don't be so uptight when talking about his videos.

Okay, first of all, the whole "Logan threatened Charriii" bit was for dramatic effect only. I wasn't making an accusation. Second of all, he does hate hard fights. It's literally right in the phrase. You only say, "F*k this fight!" if you hate it, and almost every single time he says it, his tone and words convey nothing but anger and hatred towards the fight he's sinning. The only other time outside of his early videos which haven't aged well is funnily enough in the KH3 ReMind video where for a few of the fights he said "Kind of f*k this fight" which insinuates that he only sort of hates or at least doesn't like it. "Oh, he's just doing that for comedic effect." Okay, AND? It's not like literally every other KZbinr doesn't act like this whenever they talk about something they hate. Even beyond their sometimes exaggerated anger, they still very much hate what they're talking about, and the same applies here. He even admitted as much in his Color Splash video. I appreciate that you at least are trying to provide some constructive criticism, but I look through these things before writing the scripts for these videos. More often than not, I know what I'm talking about.

Well, Paper Luigi's adventures in the Waffle Kingdom did become a quintology of best-selling books and possibly even a movie, so it taking place in a different country isn't really an excuse. Also, about the "no subtitles" thing - most of the time it seems to be intentional, as the parts without subtitles are usually more like extra comments rather than actual parts of the sin (and are mostly made by Logan). Then again, they did put subtitles for Logan saying "Eyyup" and Chariii sighing, so who knows

This video just showed up in my recommended. Paper jam (despite its flaws) is legitimately my favorite of the mario and luigi games. Its not the best (that would be bowser's inside story), but there are so many things that I like better about paper jam. That is where I stand. Also Shiny robo bowser is phenomenal.

And we are at the end of this series. Similar to you, I think that Paper Jam is a good game. It's my least favorite Mario & Luigi game, but I still enjoy it. Charriii's video however, was terrible. I thought about it, and it's my least favorite video of his. When I listed my sins with this video, it was rare for me to not counter two consecutive sins. 1:43: And the editing mistakes are starting early. 2:39: Wow, an actual reference to the classic Paper Mario games! 3:06: They never land. Also, I can't wait for your Undertale video. 5:53: I can't wait for your Undertale video. Also, I feel like the fact that I'm saying this twice can make me come off as sarcastic, but I'm not being sarcastic and I'm just taking jabs at Charriii's Undertale video. 6:32: LEGO Mario doesn't even take 3 hours. 6:51: It's better than how Charriii treated Papyrus. 7:57: I agree with what you said about villains be comic relief. Although some people complain when they have to take Bowser seriously because he got fat in Bowser's Inside Story. I'm not joking. How many times did he make those? 28:44: This is the worst Charriii5 sin I have ever seen. Shiny RoboBowser is my 2nd favorite fight in any Mario RPG, only beaten by Dark Bowser so seeing Charriii look for any excuse to complain about this fight by completely misunderstanding the game design of both series pisses me off to no end. To somewhat quote you in your Partners in Time video "I'm going to say it: I hate this video. And now that I wrote my list of sins for this video, I'm glad that I never have to watch this disaster again." And for your video TS, I'm going to continue watching because I now have an actual good Paper Jam EWW to watch. The only thing wrong with the video IMO is that not enough criticism went toward the generic story and characters. I feel like a minority in that being a major turn-off to the game for me (in fact, it was THE definitive turn-off that caused me to be so critical of the game). The core Mario cast & scenario isn't enough to hold an entry in the M&L or PM series imo, much fucking less a game that's branded as a COMBO of the two. Like it would be insulting if it was just a M&L entry, and it was incredibly insulting the several times it happened with a PM entry. But this has BOTH to live up to, so for it to be THE game to avoid the fanservice to their original ideas, just doubles the disappointment in my eyes. Yeah the gameplay is good but it's good in every M&L, that's kind of expected to me and can't hold a Mario RPG up by itself imo.

Nice hearing your view on Paper Jam. It makes sense why you feel this way. Every Mario & Luigi game prior had new interesting stuff, and the first three Paper Mario games had that too. Unfortunately, I found out that Nintendo put so much restriction on Intelligent Systems that they couldn't make ANY original characters that had long term effects on the Paper Mario universe, meaning that any and all new characters are fated to die or never be mentioned again. So when Paper Mario crossed over with M&L, those restrictions were likely forced on AlphaDream as well. For what it's worth though, Paper Jam ended being a good yet generic game in the end.

Too bad some people are going to say that this is a bad answer for some reason, so I gotta sin the game because of those hypocrites!"), and the list just goes on. But the last straw for me was him calling the Ultra Necrozma fight a bad fight because of its difficulty, when that is literally one of the main reasons people like it. Surprise Paper Jam is the worst one, because of no bonus points when leveling up, the change to the speed stat, the slow and weaker Trio attacks (albeit a few are decent), papercraft battles honestly suck ass (Papercraft King Boo sucks the most) but I will admit the final boss is actually pretty good to be honest which is coming from a game I actually don't like, although for bowsers trio move it literally doesn't telegraph when bowsers gonna fake you out, and Paper Mario is kinda useless for the final fight not completely but you cant use Trio moves when bowser's armor is on, and its funny because apparently this game was gonna have a "Paper World" similar to the dream world gimmick form dream team which is just sad this game gets a 6.2/10

This is probably a bad example, but, if you watch The Loud House(which you probably don't, that's why it's probably a bad example.), some of Luan's jokes actually end up being confusing, and i don't laugh at them. Yeah the worst in the series probably definitely not a bad game no doubt but the game had so much potential and the story is uninteresting and new, and the papercraft battles suck ass (but in no way a bad game, it just... exists)

and the game feels a bit rushed as well since its glitchy as hell (not as bad as like oh god that one game in 2006 that we don't speak of) but you can legit beat the game in an hour
