that's intentional enemy behavior! the real reason for that is... the Toad and Luigi game sprites were just waiting inside the pipe they had entered. that's how it's programmed. they wait inside the pipe until the game force loads the next area. but putting programming aside. yes... that fish was ACTIN UP

This might actually be one of my favorite Mario challenge videos. Everyone in the video was hilarious, and the dynamic was somehow perfect. Because of the full black screen (for loading) between each transition, you could string together all of the cases of "exit a pipe and then immediately enter another one" in a random order to make a wonderful sort of chase sequence If the commentary is sufficiently also separated by the transitions too, you could keep the silly audio too
