Sonic Heroes is a bit of a mixed bag for the Sonic fanbase. Some people love it, some hate it, and others think it’s a bit of both. Personally, I’m of the love it crowd. I just had a blast playing through it, even though I did get burnt out after a while and getting the Emeralds was a pain. As for Charriii’s video, I remember watching this one quite a lot before I discovered Th3Birdman. I remember thinking it was the funniest thing I watched, and after a rewatch with a much different mindset, it’s alright. Aside from the whole “Is Shadow real or an android?” debacle, there wasn’t anything that particularly annoyed me, and there was a few things he got right. But it’s still got issues.

I think I'm in the love crowd, the plot is great. And the ending with fighting Metal Madness and Overlord is definitely worth playing through this game, it can get a little frustrating but I try to look past the flaws of games like this.

42:39 I think you might be misunderstanding the article here. The screenshot in your vid seems to be referring to the "Battle for Angel Island" arc in the Sonic IDW comics, which takes place after the events of Forces. In it, Metal Sonic was upgraded to Neo during the war, but the process took longer than expected and he finished his upgrade too late. This explains why he was absent during the war and why Infinite had to create a phantom copy of him. Once the war was over, Neo stormed the unguarded Angel Island and secured the Master Emerald. When Sonic and Co. went to stop him, Neo used the Master Emerald to transform further, turning him into *Super* Neo Metal Sonic (basically Neo Metal but golden). He later reabsorbed Sonic and Shadow's bio data, and then used them and the Master Emerald to become Master Overlord (think Metal Overload just with the Master Emerald as a power source.) If you're interested and haven't checked out the IDW comics you totally should, they're a great read and basically the only source of good Sonic storytelling at the moment. So technically Charii does have a point here, as it's never explicitly stated how Metal became Neo in the first place. However, its generally inferred and accepted that Eggman upgraded him to fight Sonic, but he became too powerful and ended up betraying Eggman instead, causing the events of Heroes. So even though it was still a pretty silly sin, Charii did have a point, as if Metal did actually use the Master Emerald in Heroes, it really should have been explained or shown, as Angel Island and the Master Emerald are important parts of the sonic lore and it would've been a pretty important event. Either way, an explanation of how Metal became Neo Metal should've been present in the game or the manual, as the whole story kinda hinges on it. Sorry for the wall of text, I really did enjoy your vid and just wanted to clear up some confusion here.

And since Twink and Peach end up finding out nothing on the Chapter 6 intermission, he won't come anywhere on the city and we kinda get confused on what to do. I even had to watch a walkthrough just so I could get on that chapter at all, and well, it was my experience since I'm not very bright (for syndromic reasons), but still.

The franchise is allowed to get away with a lot more than other franchises because of it. A fox flying backwards and a moving picture aren’t all that unbelievable in the context of the world.

7:00 I know I’m being pedantic but I’d say the adventure games had canon outcomes: The cutscene for Sonic vs Knuckles shows it was a draw We know from Amy’s perspective that it was Sonic who fought and beat Gamma For Adventure 2 it’s a bit harder but we know Sonic won the final dual with Shaodw as Shadow said “you know I can’t let you live” if Shadow had won Sonic would’ve been killed and not been around for The Last Story

@@skibot9974 Well, I wouldn’t say that Heroes looks bad. In fact, it’s held up pretty well. It’s just facial expressions outside of the pre-rendered cutscenes. I’m just willing to be generous towards older games, though 2005 is my limit when it comes to generosity. As for which companies I’d compare Heroes to, I’d other GameCube titles made by third-parties like Chibi-Robo. Not Capcom’s though. They gave us Resident Evil 4 which is in its own league.

The Bringas brothers did great voicing Tails in the Sonic Adventure series. The problem is they can't do it anymore since by that time they aged out through puberty. After William Corkery, Sega stopped casting child actors and stuck to bringing in voice actresses to voice Tails, starting from Amy Palant all the way to Colleen Shawneesey, Tails's current VA as of Sonic Frontiers.

Even without the manual, you can easily make the assumption that Eggman locked Omega in that room to guard Shadow. To Eggman it would be an important job, to Omega it would be a waste of his potential. Also just wanna point out it's not thanks to Shadow's game that people think he's an edgelord, it's thanks to people taking his game at face value and not actually looking at it themselves, just looking at the coverart, the first level and "funny" KZbinrs' takes on it. If you take the dark paths in that game then yeah, he becomes a villain who hates humanity. If you take the hero path though he stays in-tune with his SA2 and Heroes personality, which is also the personality he's given in the canon Last Story, where he's disgusted by Black Doom's plan and regrets the part he inadvertantly played in it. And on the "why Rouge doesn't just tell Shadow about SA2" thing, I hate how popular this sentiment is - Rouge barely KNOWS Shadow by this point. She knows him probably better than anyone else in the series (that's alive), sure, but she still barely knows him because their relationship is SA2 was purely false accomplices. Shadow kept to himself and Rouge was unable to find any information on Shadow himself, only on the Biolizard. All she can tell him is that they were enemies and then he helped save the world, which given the dialogue at the end of this game, she likely does off-screen. She can't tell him anything else though, certainly not why he was in that stasis pod or anything about his life 50 years ago. Same goes for the other characters - Sonic and Amy had moments with Shadow but never learned anything about him, Tails and Knuckles barely interacted with him at all (in fact Tails and Shadow never even shared a moment of screentime together). Eggman might know more due to having Gerald's diary, but he's Eggman. And just on a final note, THANK YOU for pointing out that Metal scanning Shadow's biodata is a clue that he's the real Shadow. Another thing I hate seeing is the idea that the only indication this Shadow is the real on is one obscure line at the end of his game. Both Heroes and Shadow are filled with clues that imply or flat-out confirm this is the real Shadow, you don't NEED confirmation, it's simply there as some extra dialogue if you wait long enough. Other clues in Heroes include Shadow reacting to the word space and being able to use Chaos Control.

Rouge does have some knowledge on what happened 50 years ago, no much but a little, after all she was the one who read Gerald’s dairy to everyone in the final story. Also in one the cutscenes earlier in the game he says Maria’s name. When she reads Gerald’s diary her eyes widen slightly on the mention of his granddaughter Maria, showing she most likely made the connection that what he was doing was doing was because of Maria or at least that she meant a lot him.

Honestly, This basically is Sonic Adventure 3 sure it's not called that but it has Ryan Drummond, Scott, David and the entire adventure voice cast. And the inclusion of Metal Sonic wanting his revange since CD like how Adventure 1 is a continuation of the classic games even with "Knuckles don't tell me you let Eggman trick you again" and adding all of that in. This game technically is Sonic Adventure 3 even though it has a different formula it has the adventure voice cast. Sonic Adventure 3 probably won't happen but we have this game, As close as we'll ever get.

I don't understand why people get confused about things like Tails being able to fly backwards. I'm no expert, but don't helicopters have the ability to fly backwards by doing something with how the propellers function? I'm sure Tails has practiced enough at this point that he could possibly fly through multiple stages blindfolded, backwards.
