Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Review Episode 7 Season 2 where Prime video went full comedy. Maybe I just stopped caring so much about the series or maybe the shipping and stupidity reached new heights. But after the fun I had making this video I'm actually looking forwards to the finale for the first time all series. All the threads are coming together and none of them make sense. And that was truly a lightning in the bottle moment, it was amazing. Furthermore, some Tolkien elitists hated the trilogy on the same level we despise Rings of Power. Kind of funny how the theme of "decay" also plays out in our world as it did in Tolkien's. I have to imagine though that these same elitists died of cringe seeing Rings of Power.

The show's justification is that Galadriel thinks Celeborn is dead so it can't be cheating. If this wasn't LOTR then it would be perfectly justified. However, elves don't remarry if a spouse dies because their spouse is resurrected In Valinor. They know this in Tolkein. Its why Elrond is single in LOTR but has three children and doesn't seek a new spouse; Celebrian is already in the Undying Lands and Elrond knows he will he reunited with her. Of course this whole logic utterly destroys Galadriel's motivation in this show because she's angry at Sauron for murdering her brother.

@@supersuede6493 Right, that's the thing. From our modern day and HUMAN perspective, this isn't cheating because as far as Galadriel is aware, her husband is dead. Ignore the lore in this regard. If you ignore the lore, you can't possibly argue it is cheating, even if Celeborn still shows up alive later. In any modern day setting, if something happened to a spouse who was presumed dead and never returned home, you would label the person as dead. If said person shows up again later alive, it wouldn't be considered cheating at all. In fact, it'd be perfectly justified. It becomes an awkward situation, but its perfectly justified in-context. The MCU had a similar problem with his "Snap" and "Blip". The blip is when millions of people (half of all life in the universe) suddenly vanished. Five years later they return back alive, but as if no time has passed by. Naturally, of course, many husbands/wives would have likely been separated in that time, and it would be perfectly justified to assume said spouses were never returning, so they may have remarried. This also works in war contexts, where people can disappear in war but still somehow survive. Because they lost contact with the army and maybe have to fend themselves off in the wild, it could take years for said person to return. Or it could be a literal memory loss scenario where they had no idea how to get back home or they had a home to get to. In other contexts, it could be a sailing accident where a person gets stranded on a deserted island. These things do happen (rarely) in real life. The lore of Rings of Power ignores the fact that the elves resurrect in Valinor and never remarry in Middle Earth because of that. I try and criticize the show from two perspectives: including Tolkien's lore, and NOT including Tolkien's lore and simply judging the show by its own merits. If we judge the show on itself, it cannot be considered cheating in-universe. Defenders of the show always constantly complain that people who criticize the show are only complaining about lore inaccuracies when that's not true at all. We should also be able to criticize the problems with the show WITHOUT taking into account lore inaccuracies. I don't see a problem addressing the lore inaccuracies separately, though. From a lore perspective, she is cheating on her husband, yes. From an in-show-universe perspective, though, she's not, because far as she's concerned, her husband is dead. This is also consistent with how they handled Finrod, and Galadriel's motivations make ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE if we assume the show is following the lore in this regard.

I wouldn't say it pales in comparison. I think the one is every bit as bad as the other. Just that TLJ didn't actually last for 16 hours, and he wasn't the main protagonist, so we didn't have to put up with Jake Skywalker front and center for as long. More like what PJ did to Faramir pales in comparison, since Faramir was at least a minor character who still did everything Tolkien wrote for him to do.

Luke just got turned into the exact oposite of his character, Galadriel made Sauron bad again and started this whole chain of events leading to the forging of the rings. That the Rigns exist is Galadriels fault, because she was horny for satan. There is no comparison in how bad this is. I laugh at it, but the authors and EVERY SINGLE PERSON who participated in this, yes even the fing caterer, needs to be held responsible for this. I just watched a lovely video that compares the elves of Jackson's films side-by-side with the "elves" of this show, and one thing I noticed is that ALL of the elves in the films had something in common: confidence. Nobody is in love. The kiss was a diversion so Elrond could give her that lockpick. Sauron and Galadrigurl are not in love. He knows her desire; 'to rule" and she feels that desire can be made real if she sides with him. She doesnt want to be near him because feels she has no resistance to Saurons satanic seduction(not in a sexy way). They wrote Galadriels deception to Melian into this show. Only Melian was aware of Galadriels' desire. And nobody else was ever to know. In the show, Sauron plays both the villain and the Maiar and keeps Galadriels' secret. just like Melian.

I think the other reason was that there were no other women fighting in this episode. One pointless female elf got thrown off the wall, Galadriel basically does nothing in this episode except wear a big hood, plus a male elf saved her life, so they needed to balance that with a scene where a woman does some fighting. The fact we barely knew who that asian elf was didnt seem to matter.

This series is a disaster and a missed opportunity. Sauron was supposed to be a pseudo Promethean figure generating religious engineering in Harad and Rhûn with the metallurgical revolution he made in the east and south. He was like Mephistopheles from Goethe's Faust or Azazel from the book of Enoch. Galadriel was supposed to be a sage and a political opponent of Annatar's reformist ideas. She used arguments and debates to fight Sauron in the Unfinished Tales version. She was such a fierce enemy that Annatar instigate Celebrimbor and the Jewelers to stage a coup d'etat on Galadriel and Celeborn. Númenor was a moral and theological story about life vs death vs immortality vs human nature.

So Durin basically takes over the army, and he LEAVES Kazad Dun to go help the Elves. However he needs to turn around when he's nearly there cause an Elf scout is able to ride out far enough during a battle to spot them turning around. The reason he needs to turn around is because his dad the king is free to just start mining on his own and in the time it takes them to get back after the war it's assured the Balrog will get out and kill everyone, so he needs to turn back. Durin KNOWS his father is being mind controlled, and he took control of the soldiers because they realized their King was off his rocker, and then Durin proceeded to JUST UP AND LEAVE without ARRESTING his crazy father FIRST? Like he REALLY couldn't tell 4 of his new loyal soldiers "Go grab my father, take his weapons, and put him in a cell." Like I get he still loves his father and he's aware this isn't HIM it's Sauron's influence controlling him, so he doesn't wanna hurt him, but then just tell them "Try not to hurt him, just restrain him, put him in a cell, leave someone to make sure he can't get out, but he's comfortable." Like that's coup 101, if you depose your leader you're supposed to PHYSICALLY remove them from power, not just socially! Like what's stopping the crazy king you're deposing from just walking up to you when you're asleep and cutting your head off with his axe!? Apparently not an honor guard or a prison guard!

I just think that he is also too much of an amateur, too influenced by Jar Jar Abrams, and too willing to be led by those with more clout than he's got to do justice to the story he wanted to tell. On that I don't agree, it depends on the floor board, for modern floor board I do agree, but with older building (I mean like 200 years old and more), it was pretty common to have extremely large floor boards, especially if it was made for the church or nobility, so it would be logical in this case. Among the many things this show gets wrong is the idea that the elves are pampered and decadent. Those are Noldor. And even though there are fewer left of them, many of them would have been veterans from century long warfare against Morgoth. Gil-Galad was the Last High King when the Noldor still were a force to be reckoned with. Their armies are the stuff of legend in the Third Age.

This doesn't work in Tolkien lore, but if we ignore Tolkien lore, the internal logic of the show makes sense in this specific instance. That's why Eregion is seiged to get back the rings by torturing Celebrimbor. He should be dead after he gives the locations of the seven and nine and than his body used as a flag banner after that. Ok, giving Sauron mind control powers is actually mental. Not only, as Disparu pointed out, will this cause massive headaches when you want to use him in future action scenes and he doesn't use this to instantly win, but it also completely undermines the entire plot of both this show, and The Lord of the Rings. Why does he need to create the One Ring to control Middle Earth, if he already has the ability to mind control people to do whatever he wants? What was the point of him being The Great Deceiver and donning the disguise of Anatar, if he could just force Celebrimbor to forge the rings the whole time? Why did he let Galadriel go in season 1, after she found out he was Sauron, instead of making her his slave? Why didn't he force Adar and his orcs to obey, instead of letting them stab him in the back? Why is any of this happening if Sauron is so powerful that he can bend even elves to his will, without the need of the Ring? Having him bend the orcs to his will would have been one thing. They are weak minded and want to cause chaos anyway, so Sauron would have no trouble controlling them. Elves are supposed to be beings of light and wisdom. They're thousands of years old and yet he can just bend them to his will? With that kind of power, Sauron could have just walked into Rivendell and made Gil Galad off himself, along with anyone who tired to stop him. Rinse and repeat for each other major kingdom in Middle Earth and it's game over. Sauron wins without needing any armies or rings. These idiotic writers have no idea how much that one scene just broke everything.

It looks like the Capriole, one of the Airs Above The Ground, a set of classical dressage moves performed by Lipizzan horses. It's totally wasted here, though, you're right. I've seen the actual performance of the Lipizzans, it's *so* much better.

To be fair: Celebrimbor was the son of Curufin, son of Fëanor, son of Finwe the High King of the Ñoldor in Valinor who fought with his father and grandfather against Morgoth in the First Age. He was much more than a jeweler which is another stain this show places on Tolkien’s works. Works in which Sauron was corrupting the rings in secret, and not their maker.

It's the usual. A little of both. When they realise they realise via audience response they're only capable of producing crap, they react by introducing rage bait. Another example is the current AC Shadows controversy. As it gets worse you can't work out if it's pure incompetence or actual malice (the one legged torii merch).
