Well, not exactly. Modern magecraft's greatest limit is actually the very *world* around them. What the ainsworth did, they could have done it much more easier, and *much* more broken, had they just simply born 2000 years earlier, when the world still allow Mystery to florish. In the current Age of Man, as Man already displace God, Mystery also get displaced with Science, and as such the very act of performing thing with mana itself get severely limited, with essentially all of magecraft running on fume with an unknown expiration date. This is also part of the reason magecraft can never appear in front of the common mass nowaday, as the act of revealing Mystery itself to the public *actively* reduce their power to nothingness, as the World itself corrected them. Hence why all the cool fight between magus is hidden deep within the confine of the magical world they inhabit in, never to be seen by any of the muggle. So essentially, magus are all scientist working on a dead-end field, that get narrower every single day as they have to battle on not only against each other, but also against the very scientific subject they're working on actively begun to stopped working altogether, in an unknown date in the future. That make what the Ainsworth did even more impressive, but that also make just exploring and testing out basic spell and magecraft *significantly* harder, taking more time, taking more resource that's severly limited and shrink day-by-day, and essentially make perfecting those unknown spell straight-up impossible for just any magus family to do, unless if they get sponsored by those higher family above (which is highly unlikely, since those guy are dick), or if they get access to unlimited resource or a Holy Grail (which is just straight up impossible under normal circumstance). For any up-and-coming magus of the modern age to develop what the magic world deemed useless, into something absurd, take what is essentially miracles upon miracles, by genius upon genius, with unthinkable effort among effort, and the willingness to dive into thing no one is willing to do yet, with ridiculous amount of determination. For someone to have all of those thing together, is honestly absurd

Just look at Wodime's magecraft. It's the strongest magic modern mages can do because it involves the planets and the stars but in the modern era it's impossible to use it in full power but in LB5 where it was sin the age of gods Wodime is on par with a LB king like bruh

Also its unclear if the Ainsworths Displacement magic is actually that amazing or The World itself is dying due to the overpopulation of humanity and its expansionisms. For example perfect displacement is normally impossible due to the Worlds Correction Forces at best you would have Shirous problem of the corrective forces eventually reverting this displacement as its unnatural. We see Emiya in the Miyuverse able to project partial divine constucts which is normally impossible due to a lack of knowledge of its construction and the fact that the Mana cost alone is a suicidal attack. But as its possible that the world itself is failing and its corrective forces have weakened meaning magecraft normally impossible becomes doable. This is further emphasised by Tanaka which is something that would never exist whilst the world was operating normally.

I think it’s more like mages are constantly trying to achieve the grandeur of the magecraft they could do in the Age of Gods, while disregarding the potentials of newer magecraft that can be brought to super powerful heights even within the current world with less mana

Magus are honestly more like scientistq...some are mad scientists, and the rest are the equivalent of hacklabs, but across centuries, possibly but not limited to with some heretical seasoning, and more like how science was done in the cold war: Very competitive but much less international coopération

Thing is in Nasuverse there's extraordinarily skilled mages that can be said even more skilled than magician... or at least the known one. Y'see neither Zelrecth nor Aoko are known to be a.. technician let's say. Both are more a "Hammer" type of magician that capable of doing ridiculous feat by using what equivalent to brute force. Some mages on the other hand is true virtuoso and master of their craft, they're usually put into category called "Sealing designation." These mages basically mastered their craft to the point that mages association think they're a miracle that cannot be reproduced which is beyond normal magecraft but not quite in the realm of magic. Darius is definitely one worthy of such title. The other sealing designation target done similarly absurd feat such as : Touko -> Creating a puppet that is the literal copy of her, not inferior, not superior and cannot be differentiated from her. Norikata -> Manage to made miniaturize Reality marble into the literal bare minimum size possible (just around human) and apply time manipulation within it. The differences is.. magic association is basically non-existent in Miyuveree realm.. but Darius is definitely marked as one were they exist. Oh and BTW I also think that Shirou in UBW route are candidate for this title. His projection arts literally manifest relic from the age of God which are impossible for modern magus to ever reproduce. Not to mention Avalon is still within him in that route so his magic circuit should be priceless

Another thing to note is that. Darius is powerful because Pandora still exists and she is something like a connection to the Age of the Gods. So that world actually has more mysticism than the normal illya or stay night world.

@@primordial-chaos00 depends on the wielder Sparda manage to separate the human world and demon worlds with it so you can consider it done, it probably could but with Displacement you can avoid the damage either by healing the wound or Displacing the cut or JC damage elsewhere. However Vergil or Sparda wouldn't want that match up as you can destroy Yamato's blade with displacement

Really appreciating the amount of prillya videos lately. It gets tossed around as just loli yuri bait but 3rei really brought back the fate feel and made the most use out of concepts we've seen and introduces new ones. Also the art for 3rei is absolutely marvelous, too bad the anime couldn't capture it that well or made the animation more consistent and better.

@@Justic_ Reality marble should also work in theory since flash air is basically spacial displacement without degradation ,similar to tracing .Ironically both tracing and flash air inadvertently use rules different from Gaia.I mean ,Shirou can project NOBLE PHANTASMS ,crystallized myrhs,weapons with Accumalated mystery ranging from a few hundred years (Monohashi zao) to over a Millennia (Caliburn, Caladgolg,Hrunting ) which should contain FAR more magical energy than even Rin is capable of producing .Hence shirou bypasses the law of equivalent exchange to a large degree when he uses his reality marble (since in actual practice he is just bringing the weapons already formed in his inner world out to the real world) .Could someone with a reality marble do the same for flash air ,since the prequisite is to Largly reduce or nullify degradation?

Modern Magecraft in general is considered third rate and a failure to the Clock Tower Elite only serving as a basis before students take an elective. Its not just projection its the entire branch of Gradiation Air (Projection, Reinforcement). Stuctural Grasp is also (Emiya's Blueprintng Sight Magecraft) considered useless and is kinda is as most Magi can get better information from sense alone. We know that they dont put much stock in Darnic Prestone Yigdmillenia's Soul Combination Magecraft as that is actually insane and is similar to something that Nero Chaos in effect but leads to complete death after a few conjunctions instead of just collectivism and ego unification.

Kinda Similar ironically but Flash Air is actually more powerful. Alchemy has two major schools the 'Transferrence of Matter' and the 'Transferrence of Events'. Flash Air, (Displacement) is the primary in which it allows the user to conjoin space, normally this would be subject to the worlds correction forces like EMIYAs projection which is responsible for projectons breaking & limited duration. Darius has enhanced Flash Air to the point that it can do full casality displacement given some requirements and drawbacks we arent privy to. He himself is almost as powerful as a True Magic User which is insane (if he isnt one already), has Noble Phantasms that GILGAMESH owner of all Treasures doesn't recognise and creator of the Heroic Spirit Card System. For a JoJo eqivalent think Golden Experience Requiem and the Over Heaven Stands have access to Causality Manipulation.

@@someclevername8167TLDR yeah there are some insanely powerful characters in the Nasuverse especially anyone related to the Age of Gods and the Early Ages of Man like King Arthur (Artoria) and Zeus, etc. And some modern mages are considered broken like Zelretch a true magic user who can fight with the Crimson Moon (Creator of Vampires), Sion Eltnam who can create replicas of the Black Barrel a weapon capable of inflicting a 'Limited Lifespan' (Death) on immortal creatures like Gods and Types (Planets themselves). Aouko Aozaki a puppet maker so good she replaced her original body with puppets and her sister Touko Aozaki a true magic user who can control time. Etc. the strongest people living today are actually more broken than you expect and whilst servants are strong they aren't infallible and they can be beaten by certain people. And these are even the Holy Church who have secrets themselves that are insane. The Mages of the Clock Tower are considered the most stable of all the organisations and could be somewhat normal even if they themselves are trying to reach the root and are willing to die to achieve it. But they discard anything considered irrelevant to the search for the root, they are researchers not fighters and normally politics is too ingrained in them to care about anyone other than themselves. The problem here is the disconnect from Magecraft and Servants. And True Magic Users. Fate Kaleid Liner does not summon cards into a pure servant body itself and have that servant fight for you. It enhances the owners powers and uses them as the vessel for the servant itself this is madness and should cause ego death if done incorrectly (Look at Miyuverse Shirou). Which makes them weaker than the orginal heroic spirit they are copied from. And we arent sure why or how he has managed to reach a level that easily makes him more powerful than included servants, I used the JoJo analogy as an example hes not on that level, as far as we know as he cant fight with causaility displacement as an attack a la Giorno vs Diavolo.

i think the biggest weakness of displacement is kiri how he kills would be unstoppable to them so in a way he was right it’s trash to him because if he bombs them at some random place they’re done for or shooting them from distance with a silencer then they’re done for. so in a way to him and his methods it would be trash also gilgamesh could win if only because he can fire his weapons off at what like mach 5+ or he could EA which can destroy space itself and makes it suck space into itself or some noble phantasm or techniques that can distort space or spice through it

Lil bullet does fuck all to him tbh his conceptual replacement goes far beyond Julian. You could kill the current him but it wouldn't stop him from transferring to the next host. He isnt connected to the next head anyone carrying his bloodline has the potential to get replaced possibly even one of the dolls like Angelica or Zachary as the magic circuit is tied to the soul not the body.
