It's funny, when I started to main SA (in at the end of high rank) after playing mostly DB, I rarely ever did any ZSD cuz I found it bothersome, then when I got average skills with SA I started spamming ZSD like a maniac, but now that I truly understand the weapon, I'm back like how I was at the beginning, I rarely use ZSD because I find it bothersome and risky(to most monster at least, on some monsters, ZSD is a god given gift)

My Switch Axe gameplay is pretty average but I'm practising. I've just now decided to do a full playthrough (with cutscene skip because no) on Switch Axe, to be as ready for Wilds as possible. Looking into the Switch Axe mindset, when i still mained Charge Blade made the weapon seem so fun but it took me NOT using it to actually figure out some stuff. Mainly, the morph slashes from rolls but not hops. That was difficult to get around and I still do it now but I've mostly got it down. I'm gonna study the hitboxes, animation lock durations and everything else i can to get a better feel for Switch Axe as an entity. I love watching you crush the challenges this game sets up and I'm hoping to do the same

Thank you so much. I only go for the ZSD when it is 100% safe and every part needed is tenderized... and sometimes I just don't feel like it lol especially spamming it over and over gets a bit boring even though it is one of the best DPS possible.

I hate to ask this but what does reloading the switch axe do?

Reloading refills the switch gauge. You can only do it while underneath the morphing threshold though but it refills a very large chunk of your gauge.

How to you evade incoming attacks when you are only restricted to hops in between attacks i know i tried this weapon back when world was released and i was getting wrecked by monsters.

Evade window and practice. Switch Axe in iceborne REALLY needs evade window or evade extender to function probably. I rely on 3 lvls of evade window but started with 5.

Started a new save and maining swaxe for now If i may ask For a few times when ruiner nerg flinch, you jump in and get off instead of zsd Is it not optimal to zsd a flinched Monster?

ZSD is always optimal. Or at least almost always but it gets boring after a while and there is so much to Swaxe Moveset that I don't want to just spam this one move, as cool as it is. When a monster is down or you have any other long opening, then another chain would be better to use. Rising slashes into double sideway slash is a general DPS chain.

It is both for getting close in some cases but the main reason is to "reset the timer" that the monster stays in this staggered state. If you don't clutch claw, the monster recovers more quickly basically.

Evade window usually 3-5 but evade extender 0. I never use it in Iceborne.

Full Fatalis gear with kulve legs and Lightbreak SA And for skills I run evade window, power prolonger, tool specislist and divine blessing next to all your standard damage skills with an agitator charm.
