@@BenEller Most of these rips (from the guitar hero sessions) weren't ripped as guitar 1,2,3 etc.. just guitar. So when there was a solo they would throw the guitar track onto vocals, drums or whatever. You are still technically correct in your "modern era" version - but if you watch this song being played in 1985 or whatever, he's playing it the studio version. Seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKC5kqmml811nK8
@Barwis106 жыл бұрын
kronosecw Yup. Metallica often changes the way they play riffs live. Recent live shows should serve mostly as a guidline for transcribing. To keep everything in check, they should always be used alongside studio recordings.
@kronosecw6 жыл бұрын
@@Barwis10 It's an odd choice to change... Like I feel like some of the songs they're just feeling lazy (...well basically every song for lars now :drum roll:) but that counterpoint harmony was a nice touch. The hardest part of that whole thing he's doing is simply having to stretch and play A-12p7 E-8 and maintain that position to catch the e power chord BUT THE DUDE HAS HUGE HANDS. So either he forgot the riff, or got bored.

@murk45526 жыл бұрын
You do realize he is melodically and harmonically complimenting Jame's riffs playing the higher register parts like in the intro, or that little fill he throws in the pre-Verse riff as a 2nd go around variation? Plus 30 seconds of that solo, is him getting James to harmonize with his huge chunk of it, that's not easy to do either. Also, it's not a lead guitarists job to just play every single thing the rhythm guitarist does, lmfao.

Although having just listened to the isolated rhythm track (where I can't hear the quick power chord you're referring to) and then gone back and listened again to the whole song, I wonder if what you're hearing is some snare hits, which occur at exactly that point just before the pull-offs (and possibly cover roughly the same frequency range as the power chords)?
