Disproportionate Number of Black Kids in Foster Care - "Another Mother's Child" - A WRAL Documentary

Children are placed into the foster care system when the Department of Social Services decides that a child is not safe in its own home due to neglect or abuse. Black children are put into the foster care system more often than non-black children and are also more likely to remain in the foster care system for longer. This is likely due to the cycle of poverty in low-income areas. The WRALDoc team investigates the disproportionate number of black children in the foster care system. David Crabtree hosts. More than 10,000 children in our state are in foster care right now, according to the Children's Home Society of North Carolina. Finding foster parents, especially for teenagers, is a challenge for social workers in the Triangle. You see a lot of cases where they leave kids in broken homes, then take kids being taken care of where the parent is financially struggling.

She’s so well spoken and self aware. I can see her doing great things! I hope some of these children are inspired to use their knowledge of the system they grew up in to make it better and better. Her story made me sad but uplifted me also by showing some really important progress that needs to be implemented. I pray she gets everything she works hard towards. If she puts her mind to something God will guide her to where she needs to be. 💖✨

The system is broken on purpose. It’s about money. Make the immediate money off adoption, and continuous money for every kid in care.

And the crazy thing is you have a lot of black foster care families that will adopt a white child before they will a black one Now every child I feel needs to be adopted But it is really sad when black children are overlooked by not only white families but black ones as well

Eye demand immediate hearings for visitation and/or custody for parents who are ready and qualify therefore opening doors for time effort and resources for newer dailies who need repair not removal. Imo
