1:00 JavaScript is a completely different programming language from Java. JavaScript doesn’t use Log4j, Java does. (JavaScript was uninvolved in this vulnerability, JavaScript uses log4js)

This exploit was so crazy, every company who got hit was terrified of the news getting out about it because of consumer confidence so only released information after it. Every friend I have who works in IT was going berserk back then.

I work in IT but was months behind on comms at the time and I don't watch the news or whatever it is people use to learn about recent things. So the CEO asked me about log4j expecting me to have read something or at least heard of it. I promise I don't aim to disappoint, it just happens naturally.

I remember hearing people using the exploit to fix the exploit. Like, it'd run code that fixed the issue and sent a message saying "Hey, you were hit by the LOG4J exploit. We have used this to fix it on your computer, be careful out there." or something like that.

I remember when the Log4j stuff was happening, people were panicking that they would lose thousands of hours of progress on their accounts. I remember myself believing it wasn’t going to be that bad and was mostly fear mongering. How naive I was.

One of my favorite things about disrupt is how it feels so futuristic & modern at the same time. Even the Old Spice ad (and some mattress ad I happened to get as a mid-roll) seemed to take on the same affect. I love it so much & tbh if that’s the future of advertisements I’m not mad 🤷🏽‍♂️

Came for the deadliest Minecraft hack, stayed for the story of the Pentagon hack to find evidence of UFOs, that succeeded, done by a fellow with Aspergers. I love how the episode ended on a total gem! So fascinating, thank you so much for these videos.

That confused me about this video. He seemed to use the two interchangeably. Minecraft is written in Java and the web is mostly written in JavaScript. Which one was affected by this? I heard some of my webdev friends talking about it, so assumed it was affecting JavaScript. So how did it affect Minecraft?

You should really have someone who knows about these vulnerabilities to review your scripts. Mixing up JavaScript and Java at 1:00 is a pretty big error. There's a few others too, "hooking into the victims IP address" is complete nonsense. Disrupt's production value is amazing, just wish the writing was up to par with the editing.

You probably should've had someone who knows about the Log4J exploit review the script. It would've avoided a lot of inaccuracies.

I guess it has to do with the fact that Minecraft apparently runs on JavaScript which it doesn’t it runs on Java but I guess he thought that since Minecraft runs on “JavaScript” and he hacked using JavaScript he probably just did this for clickbait or some shit I don’t know

I really love the editing and storytelling of the videos here, but with as many subscribers as you have, the videos seem to get released without expert consultation/review. You're doing your viewers a disservice here. (I'm assuming the lack of consult/review as the mistakes tend to be very obvious to folks in the field.) At the very least followup with corrections.
