Funny. I was going to pull this out and do my own video of this today! Such an awesome record! Wish I had the poster. I think he was in Laramie that put out one record Mercury. Love this one!

I used to have both the Bob Smith & The Truth LPS but sold them long ago. I wish I hadn't! My Truth LP also had that same kind of promo sticker!

You made mention of Daryl Dragon, brother of Dennis from The Surf Punks. Together, they released an album as The Dragons called "BFI" from 2007. It's really good, with some psych vibes, plus a little funk thrown into the pot. Plus it features great production (nice 'n crispy). Some tracks are up on KZbin.

Yeah, I remember liking some of BFI. But I'm more of a fan of the duo's "Me And My Brother" that came out on ESP Disk, only very few copies seen. Good psych flavor on the first half, with the second half being an ambient drone.

I do dig this record and fortunately my copy does have the poster, but will not be hanging that up. I like the variance of what you get on the record and the bass playing in particular. Do not LOVE his voice but it checks out enough for me. Perhaps this lp is a "bit" overhyped but ultimately its a great journey. Nice work on your diaries as always.

Nice review of an interesting lesser known psych album. It is Kent KST-551 from 1970. I have read elsewhere that there is a cross-over with another Kent album "Utopia" KST-566 from 1971. This latter album, which is more blues-rock, reputedly utilises some leftover samples and tape loops etc. from the Bob Smith sessions, even though Discogs does not list any musicians in common. The catalogue numbers are very close and looking at the Kent listings shows that most of those in between are greatest hits compilations of blues masters like B.B. King and John Lee Hooker. Utopia is the first "rock" album to follow The Visit. I have to admit I have not compared them myself even though I have owned both for about 30 years (embarrassed emoji face) and no, my copy, bought in San Jacinto, California for $60 circa mid-90s, does not have a poster,

Don't like the Bob Smith as much as other Lps you play. But glad for the review. At $100 I definitely will pass. Thanks for your great shows. Watch them all. You're last record party was especially great.
