I would say that Gilgamesh has many different incarations in some of the Final fantasy games, but his appearance in this is based on his FF5 appearance. And it would be great to have more characters in a bigger maybe console game, however this did start as a main hero versus main villain game, it only grew into this over time and added more characters with a larger storyline
