A very basic equipment setup here. Sephiroth's EX mode isn't that interesting to me, so I might as well just go for raw damage with EXP to Assist for easy combos.
"Dodge This"...well, it seems AI Feral Chaos has no clue how to dodge it. Fervent Blow is so laughably easy to land in this fight, it's almost embarassing. Octaslash is also pretty nice here. Yeah, it's boring to use it so many times for my assist combo, but it does more damage than any of Sephiroth's other HP attacks and it wall rushes as well, so it's too effective not to use. As much as I like Scintilla, blocking is sort of tricky to do against Feral Chaos, since he's only got one blockable melee attack in this fight. I kept Heaven's Light equipped, though, since it's decent for countering Lux Magnus.
Not much else to say, besides the fact that Feral Chaos more or less handed me half of his HP on a silver platter courtesy of that Shinryu summon in the middle there. Sometimes that dragon just really, really hates Feral Chaos.

Can someone explain exactly how the health system in this game works to me and how to activate EX Bursts? I may want to track this game down if I ever get a system it's on, and I'm curious.

You've probably had this answered, but the health system is an average health bar, but you have two different types of attacks you can put on your character when leveling them up and unlocking moves and raising the amount of abilities your character can have at a time. Bravery attacks are quick and don't damage health. It's the number above the health bar. These attacks raise your opponents bravery and raise yours. Get hit by bravery attacks enough and your bravery falls below zero, you go into the red lettered BREAK status, which gives your opponent all the bravery that's accumulated in the stage over time. Break is stopped by allowing your bravery to return to it's normal amount. HP attacks are slower, and have their name displayed at the top of the screen. Land an HP attack and your opponent's health is reduced by the amount of bravery you have at that time. Your bravery will be reduced to zero if it connects, but it regenerates to a normal amount after delivering an HP attack, but not if your opponent beats you to near break. There are summons, assists and extras that vary the gameplay marginally, but it's all about the attacks. EX Bursts are triggered by the square with the lines around it. Characters have an EX mode giving typical boosts and sometimes unique abilities. Delivering an HP attack while EX mode is active will give you the option to press square again going into the cinematic ex burst with button prompts.

To put it more plainly, Bravery denotes how much damage your HP attacks will do. The point of Bravery attacks is to lower your opponents and raise your own to maximize the damage output of your HP attacks.

For me, I just keep on the One-Winged Angel but wear the full Lufenian set. As my Bravery attacks, I only equip Reaper and Sudden Cruelty for comboing. Then I only have both versions of Octaslash. I just combo FC with Reaper first but do not chase. Once he hits the ground, I land an Octaslash on him. This is repeated as many times as needed

I just beat Feral Chaos for the first time! I managed to knock him down to about 46K with my other partymembers and then I destroyed the rest with Sephiroth :D I dont get how you can get so high damage though. I can only get my bravery to like 1K or so. (Yeah I used Octaslash ALOT) I have tried equiping different accessories and multplier things but I just never am able to get high damage :/ (Also EXP to HP was beasicly what made it possible for me to beat him :P)

Sephiroth is actually really broken if you can use him properly, but I find a Kain/Kuja combination to be ridiculously broken as well. It allows you to keep someone literally trapped between rising drive and his ground rush HP attack, which I just derped on the name of.

when you have ject as a suppost, you should use a ground attack because ject throws opponent to the air, which allows black materia to charge, i do it all the time and its epic especiallyfor the last move until burst limit

Use Tidus and use that EX Mode running ability then use Dart and Weave (Quick hit B) or (With anybody) chase and as fast as you can, press Square on the first chase RIGHT when you get in his face. Reply so I can know if it helped.
