Gonna have to try the sculling drill. Regularly use paddles and have done the fist drill many times, but when I return to the pool sometime in the New Year I'll try to do sculling (looks like best without a shared lane, and a whole lane solo is hard to find in these parts). #openwaterisbetter

I'm not sure I am the best at showing good sculling technique 😉 but it should help with our catch. Maybe mix it into our warmups? Thanks for checking out the video!

Gonna hafta work in the fists and skulling. Eventually I'll do the paddles thing, too; I have to buy some, first. I've got a goal of getting my "relaxed" swim pace under 2:00/100m. I can get a 1:57/100m over 300m, but it takes everything I have to do it.

There's a video on the channel somewhere talking about the paddles I really like. Finis Agility paddles or something like that. 👌 Keep me posted on your swim progression. I bet you'll be getting faster soon. 👍

@@mlegrand I've been focusing a lot on my stroke and endurance. I've gone from a solid 2:45-3:00/100m to 2:10-2:20/100m in about 2 months! I did a 300m swim in 5:59, and I was totally stoked. Absolutely gassed, but totally stoked.

@@TheCelticClydesdaleShow - I'd be curious to see how your body position looks in the water. Do you ever use a pull buoy? A lot of pools have them laying around the pool deck.

@@mlegrand Uncle Sam's Navy left me with some lower back issues that preclude using a pull buoy. I _have_ improved my position; I used to look at a 45degree angle that caused my legs to sink. I've started looking straight down, which has raised my legs up and things are much easier.

Yep, I need to focus on getting more distance... :/ I mostly just need to swim more haha! Swimming has never been my strongest point.

Iron-Will Multisport Australia Swimming is only about 10% of a triathlon race. Might not be worth too much effort? 🤔

@@mlegrand Hmmm true... All I need is to SURVIVE the swim! I often tell people that it's my strategy to go slow in the swim... So that I can overtake everyone on the bike and run :P
