Things I like doing; Put refuel stations in dead of space, middle of nowhere. Have mining stations and put deep space radar on them + boarding parties ready. Basically this gives you eyes everywhere

Interesting. I tend to play to reactively. It's a curse of mine, I like the idea of purpose built refueling stations. I tend to follow the natural expansion trend by using my mining station to refuel. And to capture Pirate base because they almost always sit on Calson.

how do you place a station in the middle of nowhere? I seem to need a planet/star to pace a station!

Exciting to see the expansion starting now. The economic pain from those colonies definitely is brutal, the admin centers will absolutely help though. Weird how the pirates are obsessed with attacking the Ghost Fleet station, especially since its like the only station you have that has real defenses

I think the base is far away towards the other Human empire. Likely it's the only place they can realistically reach of mine. Its good though cause they picked the perfect time to appear and attack and the worst place (for them of course) to attack.

Bought this game im so lost, its so slow man hope it picks up later on, at least stalaris is faster pace.

It definitely a much slower game. Stellaris is more a hybrid grand strategy/storytelling game, so alot happens all the time. This game is more interested in resource management and expansion. Learning how to build ships and engaging with the combat system can really help this game's pacing.

Cool videos! One question, is it wise to queue up so many expensive (in term of initiation resources cost) research projects in early game when you are resource thirsty?

Cash is seldom a problem at this difficulty. It's regularly refreshed by the civilian economy, buying mining ships and transports. I feel iresaech is #1 priority for spending.

@@Huntanor I agree that research is a must. However, I was concerned in particular with queueing the research tech for colonizing ocean planets. The initiation cost for that tech is not only cash but also a lot of resources. I think these resources are precious at early game, and I was thinking perhaps it is better to queue that research tech once one has access to sources for those resources. What do you think?

I believe I took Temperate Colonization and said I would like Ocean later? I do believe the cost for Temperate is worth it. Once I get those neutrals, it affects three worlds. The main purpose of resources is to spend them., and I feel like the long-term benefit out weighs the loss. I may be wrong, though. Edit: I have over 10k of each resource in quest now, too, due to killing the pirate base mostly. That's why I was confident it wouldn't matter.

Your comment made me realize I need to show the resource screen once in a while. You are right shortages can kill the early game, and seeing that I watch them would be good for viewers.
