The struggle is fun :D Though I find it a little obscure at the moment. Need to find out what changed in the last few patches and my general strategy that causes it.

Very true. If you run out of fuel your empire grinds to halt in all things. Though from what I have seen your private sector buys that from traders a lot as well. Somehow I always had enough fuel to keep the eco running until i could secure more sources for the empire.

If you incounte the Boskarans you can ask them for technology

The Boskarans are included, but I can ask noone for tech because I deactivated that option for about every campaign since the 2nd with the Zenox I think. To me tech trade makes the game far too easy and not interesting.

They do not always fight each other. Excluding the newest version, since I haven't got the time to play this game in a while, I saw multiple occasion where they were pretty content on raiding side-by-side.
