The language of my ancient British ancestors. The language of Arthur and Owain Glyndwr. The tongue of the dragon by which it’s magic is crafted and poured.

The noun "Wales" comes from the Anglo-Saxon meaning foreigner or stranger. The Welsh call our nation "Cymru" and ourselves "Cymraeg" meaning "Us" or "Fellow People" I love the fact that in the whole wide world there is a country called "Us"

+Little Leigh You are absolutely right. The modern Welsh is not ancient now. I just call you to keep your roots and your history. The global war never ends unfortunately. And now the warriors not use bows, swords or guns. They use words, pictures, TV and social nets. It is like axes that are chopping all roots and traditions in your souls.

Yet it has it's roots in Brythonic, so much so that a modern Welsh speaker can understand a good deal of Brythonic should they hear it. It is the least removed from it's ancient version as it's possible to be. Even the name of our nation is the Brythonic "Cymru"

Wales is a "small window" in the words of RS Thomas. If English were her first language she would be widely recognised and appreciated here and in the US. Her voice is stunning and her tunes and lyrics breath-taking!
