Distinguishing between BSP and NPT thread types in plastic pipe systems

My understanding: BSPP - British Standard Pipe Parallel BSPT - British Standard Pipe Taper NPT - National Pipe Taper NPS - National Pipe Straight. BPS threads also have a rounded flank where NPT does not.

BSPP is Parallel, but BSPT is tapered and very similar to NPT

Can you use a NPT tap and thread over a BSP female fitting so that the Npt male thread would work?

Hi, I have never tried it but I am pretty sure it will not work. As the pitch of the threads is different you will end up with areas where there is little or no thread at all. I guess if you stuff it with enough thread sealant it may work, but I wouldn't like to rely on it.

Hi, We don't supply PPR so I am not sure about this. Generally if it is a product that is used in the USA, there will be an NPT option for it.
