You can wet your paper , then sprinkle the shavings onto the damp paper. The shavings will,react wirh the water, blooming and flowing with the water, you can tilt the paper and the water will flow all over the paper as little or as much as you like.

I was coloring with Distress Watercolor Pencils while sort of watching this video ;) Wound up having to backtrack a couple of times. I have yet to sharpen any of my pencils but your ideas have me so excited to try mixing shavings into a texture paste. Will the shavings completely dissolve or will there be delicious specks? Definitely hoping for specks. One of my favorite techniques is using acrylic mediums in place of water with water soluble products. My favorite mediums are GAC 100 for it’s viscosity and Golden’s fabric medium because it tends to make products that really shouldn’t work on fabric last as well as improving lightfastness. I practice on underwear and night shirts. Before I realized how much I love fabric surface design I used to hate white cotton panties and now that’s pretty much all I buy; a perfect blank canvas and practical to boot.
@cheiron2 жыл бұрын
Not sure on the pastes, I would think since the pigment is water reactive it would dissolve, but I will try it out!

Beyond wonderful - thanks for the instructions and ideas! May I ask the measurements or even brand of your pans, since not all manufactures are identical and yours fit perfectly. A local artists supply store doesn’t carry pans! Dick Blick didn’t either; now they have half pans and Schmincke full but expensive. I got some on Amazon. I put pieces of magnetic adhesive sheet on the bottom of pans so if colors were added they could be moved, but when I bumped the metal container they wouldn’t fall out.
@cheiron2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beth. My pans have magnetic tape on the bottoms (I mention that at the beginning of the video :)). Mine are full size pans and my store in NJ had them in a big clear bowl just loose.. My pans measure approx 1 1/8 X 3/4 from edge to edge and there is no brand name on them. I found these on amazon that look to be that size: amzn.to/3BR1Rjo Hope that helps!

How did you clean your pencil sharpener in between uses so the colours didn't mix together in the blades of the sharpener?
@cheironАй бұрын
I just tapped the sharpener off onto my scrap paper between sharpening each color 😉

Yes, the pencils are similar to other products, however makers that frequently use the Distress products will live that the colors match or complement the other products in the line.

@@cheiron Haha, yeah, funny.... ‘cos I asked that on another channel today too regarding watercolour paints.... saying: “Is it actually the paints we like or want, or are we just more into the cool boxes and tins everything comes in?” 😜😜😜 I don’t know myself.... I have been known to totally spontaneous buy on aesthetics alone sometimes.... and then the actual supplies satisfy the rainbow-loving component too 😂😂😂 *Take my money!*
