Disturbed bassist John Moyer recently invited Vintage Guitar magazine backstage to get a look at his instruments, amps, effects, and work as a producer for rock and metal bands. Keep up with John at johnmoyermusic....

I've recorded 12 songs on two EPs with John as our producer... on the first EP I used his Ian Hill Signature Series Spector 4 string tuned B-E-A-D, but in the second EP my double humbucker Musicman Stingray 5 won out for best growl... so we recorded with it instead. John is fantastic to work with in the studio and he is very engaged and dedicated to the projects he takes on... I highly recommend him if you're seriously looking for a great producer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqHEaJiKftWib7s

Back in the early 90's I contacted Spector to ask if they offered a left-handed version of the NS-2 (I think), and they replied that they did not.. But they did go on to say that they would be very interested in building one. Even said that they would include a signed authentication certificate stating that it was the first left-handed one built. Unfortunately, the price was too steep for me at the time (somewhere around $2,500 if I remember right). Sure wish I coulda pulled that off.

Fastforeward today and there still isn't as much lefty built around. Better than it used to be but still it's tough.

I found this video quite amusing. I never really knew much about Disturbed. I to play Spector basses and I to have an ovation acoustic Bass. I just found it amusing.

Tim Commerford has been splitting his clean and distorted bass tones for years. It's nothing new, but is still very cool some players utilize that approach to their tone.
@crazeyjoe3 жыл бұрын
Chris Squire was the first bassist (at least notably) to use the split clean/distortion.

The MM is good for bands like AC/DC. The Spector just cuts through a wall of sound considerably better.

B-F#-B-E is not a totally unique tuning

He meant unique as in only a few song in their list uses it.
@codyhansonbass4 жыл бұрын
Right? Practically every metalcore band uses this tuning.
