Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence is haunting, beautiful. I was dumbfounded when I first heard it. As someone that is dealing with depression, in my worst times, before my breakdown, this song, unfortunately was the song I played over and over. God Bless you all, my family, who deals with depression and addiction. It is like cancer.

To hear these young people sing along to a song that was written 59 years ago (when I was 5 years old) gives me the chills. Good music is timeless. I heard Paul Simon interviewed last week, and he said he loved this version. He even called David Draiman to tell him so. Can't get much higher praise than that.

When I first heard it, my first thought was the same. Way better than the original. They took an older song that was good in it's lyrics but lacked the emotion the lyrics really needed. This rendition brought the emotion to the song it desperately needed to make it great. I really love it.

In '64 when S of S came out I was 9. I've always remembered S and G's version as a commentary padded in a genteel sound, the truth wrapped up something that wasn't abrasive. When I heard Disturbed's version a few years ago, I felt as if someone finally got it and I could hear and feel him ripping off the chains to release the true anguish in the truth this song speaks of.

I saw someone else describe it as S & G's being a warning for the future, and Disturbed's is the anger and rage at people not heeding the warning. Given the direction the world seems to be going, I think there might be something to that.

I just found Disturbed's version of the Sound of Silence this past July, 2023. I just loved it the first time I heard it and I just can't stop listening to it. It just grabbed my heart & head. Probably played it 50-60 times by now. I also like to see how other groups and individuals sing Disturbed's version. Harmonica solos and all sorts of interesting versions. I like David's the best of all. What a beautiful and powerful voice.

I was born in 1960 , it took until I was 12 to really listen to it (my sister would play it over and over) the original by Simon and Garfunkel was a very big hit at the time ! many years later my son at the age of 33 had me listen to this version and it just blew me away !
