Back in the 60's when it was produced the first time, I never paid any attention to it. Boy, now I listen to this several times a day/week.

Not many people realize that David has an unbelievable voice until they hear this. A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do and he makes it look so damn easy! He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before........just hauntingly beautiful..... An awesome talent. Loved your reaction.

A lot of people don't really to the lyrics meaning. David was classically trained and he is a Cantor. Paul Simon gave great praise for how they did his song. The darkness of the video really gets the message across.

"... the words of the prophets are written on subway walls and tenament halls ..." Simon & Garfunkel's rendition was a melancholy lament, full of resignation over the social disillusionment. I hear Disturbed's rendition as a powerfull call to arms, the anthem for the coming revolution!

The tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released this classic song of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing the many channels and each of their reactions and 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. I think the meaning can be interpreted differently by each of us, but to me it's a warning about a lack of communications between people. We don't talk to each other anymore. We talk AT each other. Or our face is stuck in a little box constantly. Although it was written long ago, it is relevant now, even more, in my opinion. Technology is the "Neon God"... We need to pay attention more. To each other, to ourselves. To live outside of the madness that technology has presented to us. I loved this so much! I reacted to it a few months ago for the first time and it SHOOK ME! I've heard the OG version a million times, but NEVER likes this! It made a huge impact on my channel too- almost 250k views since February. I can totally understand why too! Anyway, Congrats on your new KZbin journey. If I can ever help- I have some tips I could share with you, feel free to reach out! My channel is "The Speak Easy Lounge". Come hang out one Monday night in my Live Stream and request a song or two. CHEERS!

You're the second person I've seen react to this song by saying they never really paid attention to the lyrics before. I find this sadly ironic, because that's kind of what the song was saying, "People hearing without listening". There are too many songs out there that have tried to say important things that people never heard because they don't pay attention to the lyrics. You're missing out if you don't pay attention to both the music and the lyrics.
