It's not all about being "heavy" it's about being real. Instead of breaking the mold these guys are completely reshaping... it's a breathe of fresh air. If you can get past the ignorant comments & actually listen to the lyrics and not just how heavy you wish it was.. you'll come to find it's exactly what you need. Every single note in every song has a meaning. Through melody they are finding clarity.

It seems to me, that all of the people complaining about how they think the album is shit because the songs aren't as heavy as they like, fell in love with Disturbed for an entirely different reason than I did. The sound of the music is what caught my attention in the beginning, but what truly made me a fan was the fact that the lyrics and the music spoke to me on a personal level. During my teen years, I was a very angry person, so when David Draiman growled and screamed along with me, I always felt better afterwards. I would like to think that I can grow and change, along with the band, because I am always going to love their music, no matter what it sounds like. It was listening to Disturbed that comforted me during my darkest moments, so I don't intend on becoming a hater, just because this album is different from the earlier ones. I don't want to get stuck in the past and be that angry teen that I was all those years ago, when I first listened to The Sickness. Some people have decided that is what they want to do, but that is their choice. There will still be days when the earlier albums are what I need to listen to, but hopefully, there will be more days when songs like this one, can get the job done.

Okay, I think the person who created the lyrics made a mistake. 2:06 to 2:11 should be ''and you become the one that everybody taunts''. There's a clear 't' sound there. It also doesn't make sense for the lyrics to be ''you become the one that everybody wants'', because right before that line, it says ''you're torn apart and then you're thrown away''. The lyrics are about you being taken advantage of. Nobody would want to be you or want you. I know it's been about two years since the video was posted, so it's likely that nobody cares, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I absolutely love this Album! Yes, theres def no denying that they might of “pumped the breaks”. However, these guys are on their 8th Album. After being together for 15 yrs (estimate), of course their heads are in a completely different place now. That’s a lot of time between then and now for them to encounter the game of LIFE. After Hearing the lyrics it’s easy to realize that they’ve matured and are in a different personal journey in life. I started listening to these guys when I was in 7th grade and they are probably the only band I’ve consistently still enjoyed over my own personal journey. So as a fan, I can relate with this transition. My head is in a completely different place and I’ve humbled myself a bit. So I really do enjoy the slower paced songs because his lyrics and voice are extremely powerful. And we still get songs throughout the album That remind us they didn’t abandon that original disturbed sound. Time + trials/tribulations change all of us in one way or another.

This comments section is stupid. Everyone is pissed that this album isn't as heavy and isn't exactly the same as indestructible. It's literally in the name of the album that the band have changed up their sound and that's a great thing. Every band needs to change up what they're doing every once in a while to stay sane and actually do something creative. On top of that there are a fair few heavy songs in this album too so there's literally nothing to complain about. If you want a band that re-uses the same shit for every single album they make go listen to FFDP.

I watched this video and read this comment thread about ten minutes ago, went off and did something else for a while, and came back to my computer to listen to "Hold On To Memories". Partway through that, I noticed something, and it is entirely my personal view on Disturbed's work so far, and should not be taken as me saying I know what goes on in Draiman's or his bandmates' heads, because I don't. I grew up with their music when it was young, hotheaded and furiously angry - I was too. I lost track of them for a while as I put my head on straight and raised my kid. My kid found their music and re-introduced me and I fell in love with it all over again. I found the stuff I'd missed to have similar enough messages to their older works, but a greater depth of maturity, with vivid flashes of insight and enlightenment. I will not swallow or spit out the doomsayers' words of loss of a soul to a devil, as I do not believe in living my life fearing my death because mortals who know as much as I do about that (nothing) are trying to tell me what to think in my own head (and I don't think anyone else should live like that either). I am, however, a spiritual person, and though this reply is freakishly long, I'm going to make it longer by saying it is my belief that Draiman and his bandmates are growing as people and are choosing to depict what they've been learning about themselves (and through that lens about the world) in their music. With each new song I listen to, I encounter more moving messages, more sound advice, more of an underlying sense of calmness and certainty, more ways of seeing the world around me, and a deeper peace than before. I do not require anyone else's insight into their music for not being able to think for myself; I enjoy other peoples' insight into it because I feel I can meet them in conversation as an equal contributor. I'm going to make this longer still by saying I can't wait to see what comes next. It's not an impatience borne of the increasingly ADHD world we live in, but a sort of breathless wonder and sweet anticipation like winter slowly cozying up into spring and summer with the occasional raging storm thrown in to keep me from getting too comfortable. I should have given this more attention: David Draiman has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, and the diversity of vocal styles he's done with Evolution carries the breathless wonder and sweet anticipation for me like nothing else. I hope this isn't too long.

Intro Music Lyrics: I didn't mean to give my soul away To have the the life I thought that everybody wants And I need to let you know I was wrong It's a sham They stole my heart and took control away And when I lost the life that everybody wants Well you'd think they'd help you out But they don't give a damn They lift you up [You might feel it but don't believe it] You take your turn [You'll see it when you achieve it] They light that spark [You can;t fight it] Then sit back [And watch you burn] Chorus 1: They lift you up [You might feel it but don't believe it] You take your turn [You'll see it when you achieve it] When your world goes dark [You can't fight it] They'll just smile [And watch you burn] You can't believe a single word they say You tried to have the life that everybody wants Pretty soon you'll figure out that you don't It's a scam You're torn apart and then you're thrown away And you become the one that everybody taunts By then there's no way out It's all part of the plan Chorus 1 They lift you up [You might feel it but don't believe it] Give you your turn [You'll see when you achieve it] When your world goes dark [You can't fight it] They'll just smile [And watch you burn] Dramatic Violin Music HERE They lift you up You take your turn [You'll see it when you achieve it] They'll light that spark [You can't fight it] Then sit back [And watch you burn] They lift you up [You might feel it but don't believe it] Give you your turn [You'll see it when you achieve it] When your world goes dark [You can't fight it] Then smile [And watch you burn] Exit Guitar Music.

Been listening to Disturbed since they came out. There's never been a time I've not liked how Disturbed was evolving; bc, to me, they did so while still clearly staying Disturbed. People are gonna say this song should have been not as light, given the lyrics, but that's what I like about it though. Disturbed continues to see me through terrible times. So, thanks for that. What I took away from the song really hits home.

about to listen to this for the first time... I really like it! Their interpretation of The Sound of Silence, first open my eyes to Disturbed. And since then, I've begun listening more and more to their music, mostly within the last 6 month. I really enjoy their music and sound. And listening how they evolve is great, so far I like all I've heard from these guys...

When Disturbed released the renditition of the sound of silence it brought awareness to generations or people that never held interest in this group in a major way because many people dont enjoy the heavier aspect of disturbed..which should not be a focus of a band to mutate to that extreme..but business and movement for the band to evolve as artists and expand the heavy metal family is the goal. this is great music.

This song has a typical ten thousand fists layout but different instrumental sound. Imagine this song with heavy electric guitar and more bass drum. The solo in this would be so amazing with ten thousand fist style instrumentals. But this version is great too. I would just love to hear them play this like old disturbed!

It's funny how people just disregard people who do what they want and don't give a shit like Metallica for example. So many fans left and missed a very magical part of their evolution. They never "sold out" if you want to see selling out look at people like Eminem, and Snoop Dogg, Jay z. Beyonce....these guys do WHAT THEY WANT, WHEN they want. What's more metal than that??! Also they both, Metallica and disturbed change their music according to 3-8 years of their lives that they live, then they write about it. Nothing better than that.
@rolandgonzales62756 жыл бұрын
I've heard a lot of people, including myself, say that they just keep doing the same thing over and over again. But now they're exploring new musical creativity. I don't really know what my point is. But shit, if I was a highly successive musician, I'd do whatever the hell I wanted to do too.
