i live just up the hill from there i went walking on this line and found a track chair. needless to say it was very heavy, i've found all sorts of different metal components from the line sadly no rails though.

They're heavier than they look those track chairs aren't they😄. It's a great section. I lived in Beighton so was always out walking it and noticed new stuff everytime. Happy memories.

Great vid, remnants of a bygone era, but what a tremendous route it was in its day, through the heart of England to the south, and was going to go to a channel tunnel to France, but the Government of that time, blocked the building of it. Anyway thanks for posting. 🙂👍

Thanks for watching Mervyn. I agree, it would have been a temendous route. I'm always blown away by how imposing the embankment is above Killamarsh compared to the other lines towering over the houses below.

As you can see I'm working my way through your vids and really enjoying them. I have one question though, how come you keep meeting dodgy characters on these walks!!! I remember the Fiery Jack episode which was interesting, and indeed corroborated by myself when I went down there. Look after yourself mate, these vids need to keep coming. This railway ends up going all the way to Lincoln over the Fledborough Viaduct (a really impressive structure), there are some great stations on the route. When you get to Lincoln you can follow the old Lincolnshire Loop Line which has a branch to Boston and another one out to Louth and then on to the coast. There are a couple of tunnels along this section as well. I have some great photos of every station (bar two, but working on them, privately owned and not near the road/fields) on those lines and the tunnels.

You're right. I seem to keep bumping in to undesirable folk when I'm out and about. Same thing happened this week with two youths on what I suspect was a stolen bike :D. Glad you like the videos.

It would be great to continue down the old line out towards Lincoln way. I've just moved house a few miles further up the line as it happens. So I've already been looking the next few stretches. Louth is one the destinations on my wish list too, when I eventually get round to it.

@@WobblyRunner Louth is about 20 mins from me, it has a gorgeous Victorian station. The Louth to Grimsby disused line has some very interesting elements to it as well, I should know as I've photographed most of it!!! Halfway along the line you have the Lincolnshire Wolds Steam Railway that runs between Ludborough and North Thoresby, it's well worth a visit.

A shame schools didn't continue that scheme of collecting old cans, there'd be far less litter all over the country if they did. I did some litter picking locally last year, found some cans from the mid 80s, with the old style ring pulls, still in decent condition. The southern entrance to Rother Valley used to be an old farm access track from Field farm to the eastern side of the railway lines, I had an explore on what I called Field Farm Lane last year, over a brick bridge/viaduct that can be seen through the trees from the TPT, underneath the bridge ran the killamarsh line. I cleared the old lane somewhat to make it more accessible, not sure what it's like now, wonder if the locals have helped to keep it accessible. 🤔

@WobblyRunner 3 жыл бұрын
You know, I had the same thought about the cans😄. Would have made a fortune back in the day. I know which bridge you mean. I was having a look around it a few months ago. Was still clear as of last week too when I walked past.

@@WobblyRunner funnily enough I've literally just watched that video now with the farm bridge on. I shut my eyes again for a couple of hours as woke up at 3am, thought before I get up I'll just watch one more vid and that was the top one. It is amazing just how much is left from the old railways in that area, bet you could keep on finding something new. I reckon we both first noticed that farm bridge at a similar time. Perhaps it was due to them thinning out the trees, and the lack of leaves on the rest.
@WobblyRunner
@WobblyRunner 3 жыл бұрын
@@eggy77 that would explain why I didn't notice it for 13 years or so. Now I go past and you can't miss it. Even in summer. I was out there filming on the waleswood branch last week.

@@WobblyRunner just looking at my photos, I first noticed it early February 2020 through the trees, couldn't access it though as there was no path to it from the north end and the south end hold water in winter. It was June 2020 when I went back, without the bike, and made it more accessible, once we were allowed out in the car again. Managed to negotiate it on the bike a couple of times although it was quite a challenge haha gonna have to check it out again sometime, see if people have took the bait and kept it accessible all the way through 😁

Hi Jason, I went down the other day to have a look at the tunnel. Apart from the obstacle course of fallen trees near the tunnel entrance it was easy. You can either get down through a gap in the hedge on the road just by the bridge (near the station). Or as I did, I just walked down the old trackbed from Killamarsh straight to the tunnel. Apart from a pile of mud under the road bridge, it was easy to climb over.
