i thought this episode was a bit underwhelming; it felt more like a draft. i also didn't understand why marcus sponsored the investigation if his wife was the culprit... it would've been cool if marcus thought a doll he had bought nina did it and everyone around him believed he had gone crazy because of the war and the grief of losing his wife and his child in such a gruesome way. maybe nina's sister could've been the real culprit and nina tried to stop her? or it could've been ambiguous. him protecting nina at the cost of the truth would have been way more impactful anyway. + i wish we actually got a nina backstory about why she's alive

Marcus’ wife is the culprit? Of what? The mysterious child disappearances? She took her own life along with their daughter’s while Marcus was in the army. Early in the episode, Marcus told his daughter he’d buy a doll for her after he returned, so the deaths of his wife and daughter aren’t connected to the ordinary dolls at all.

Same here. I'm seeing so many comments calling it cute, but I personally think it's pretty creepy 😭 especially the way he changed the doll's hair color to look like his daughter's. And the way he got all aggressive on Anika, he literally pushed her to the ground and just broke her camera when the show was her passion. I used to like Marcus, but that was just plain shitty of him. He at least could've tried to negotiate with them or ask if he could just keep the doll instead of becoming hostile.

I also wish the episode was longer. It’d be nice to know more about the Ordinary Dolls and exactly why they’re sentient. Below is my theory: Nina and her 3 sisters (unless she has more) are supernatural cursed dolls from Hell who come to Earth to sell/market themselves to kids for purchase. Once the dolls are bought, they proceed to make their new owners “disappear”. Nina may have been the only one who didn’t actually perform any crimes but only participated in advertising the “products”. The one thing I know for certain is that Nina IS from Hell, since she revealed that in DCAS episode 19.
