If you think hanging the laundry outside to dry sounds like a throwback idea, there are plenty of modern reasons to consider going old-school.

I have line dried my clothes since 2005. Love it! My clothes stopped wearing out...they go on forever now it seems. And this method is cost free energy wise!

Wtf? Im from UK this practice is completely normal here!!!!! Cheaper than a tumble dyer and better for the environment. I can't believe this is novel in the U.S

As a matter of fact you supposed to hang pants by the ankles Because water drips and the waistband takes forever to dry
@jayantiraphael86553 жыл бұрын
that is counterintuitive. if you're hanging them upside down then all of the water will drip toward the waistband increasing the amount of water absorbed by the waistband... that makes no sense

I hang mine by ankles and it dries faster, I did one by waist line and hang pants upsidedown, dry faster for me by the ankles.

In my country there's an enormous habit of line drying clothes.... Airdrying helps them to do ironing later on since it prevents wrinkles and scratches it easily... And the backyard gets a very good smell after you hang them out. I love doing it. I only use my drying cycle in the winter... But it spends a high amount of electricity here....

lol yeah, I live in an apartment with a laundry room, I don't want to spend money on using the dryers so I hang my clothes from a clothesline on my balcony. I got a notice from the property management saying that it looked "trashy" and that I was "expected to use the supplied amenities" going forwards. I just dry them by my window now.

I tried line drying, loved the smell. Unfortunately, I developed Increased nasal drainage, skin itching, watery eyes, postnasal drip, and cough. Turns out I am allergic to every kind of grass grown in my area, as well as alder, elder, and birch trees, which are common where I live. Nope, line drying is "toxic" for me.

When I came to Bloomington Indiana United States I was surprised to see no one dry clothes outside. If I am going for jogg or tennis or basketball I will wash my t shirt and lower and put them on chair in balcony. I can't keep those sweaty clothes waiting for weeks to clean and use my drier😂. Someone told me it is illegal here in United States. Still I am drying them outside sometimes 😂. I can't use my drier for only couple of clothes. Please let me know if it is really illegal. I am not keeping my jockey undergarments for sure 😂 for drying outside. 😔.I hope cop should not come and take me to jail for this one day. 😢

I take 6 walks up and down the stairs to complete one whole load of laundry. Put it in the wash, go upstairs. That's 2. Take it out to put in the dryer, go upstairs. That's 4. and taking it out of the dryer, go upstairs. That's 6. If I'm doing 5 loads that's 30 times. That's one reason to switch to line drying for lighter items. Unless you wanna spend a free day in the basement.
