⚡️The dehumidifier uses 0.2kw/h of power so roughly about 9p an hour.
⚡️The spin dryer uses 30 watts per cycle (which is about 33 cycles per Kw/h) - Roughly 1.36p per cycle
⚡️The tumble dryer uses about 3kw/h per cycle - Roughly about £1.35

Not wishing to be rude here Gemma, but this is a bit of a mixed up review. Aside of all the extra spins on your washing machine you are also not compairing a spin dryer with a dehumidifier, which you pointed were of similar cost, you are actually comparing a dehumidfier with a spin dryer in conjunction with a covered heater. Also all the things that you said you could do with the clothes after they have been in the spin dryer, you could also do with the clothes during the dehumidifier process. The secret to using a dehumidifier for drying is to put the clothes on a standard airer with the dehumidifier in a small room, obviously you need to have a small room. Also the dehumidifier will remove the moisture from the room as well as the clothes, reducing condensation. Just saying..

For me personally, the spin dryer won because it was more versatile. I could use the washing line instead of the airer depending on what the weather was doing. We are all different though and have different homes/set-ups etc. I can see that the dehumidifier would be a great choice for a household that needed to dry indoors often.

I know this isn't washing related but a dehumidifier doubles up as helpful for reducing moister in your house . The heated airer will produce moisture. The dehumidifier dries clothes and gets rid of that moisture. Just my opinion 😊 I don't have a utility room so my dehumidifier is in my living room .

Gemma. Thanks for making this video. In an ideal having a dehumidifier and spin dryer is the best combination. For drying clothes, yes, the spin dryer is excellent for getting rid of excess moisture. However, if you had to choose one during winter, I recommend the dehumidifier because it removes moisture from the whole house. Therefore, the reduction in humidity, the less damp your home will be, easier to heat, and cheaper to heat. Less humid, less mould build-up and air easier to breathe. I'm going to be sticking to my dehumidifier 🙂

Also, if you have spin dryer there's no need to use the fast spin mode on the washing machine, which will increase the lifespan of the washing machine.

My mum always used to use a spindryer. Debating whether to change my tumble dryer for one as I currently use the extra spin on my washing machine. To dry I have a Sheila's Maid on the ceiling in the utility room which is also where my boiler is so it doesn't take long to dry. About the same as outside and no electric used.

For me a dehumidifier works best. Using the heated airer or dry soon still adds moisture to the house that has to go somewhere. My place is older and prone to mould so for me this works best.

Good video but I just have one point to make. The dehumidifier and tumble drier don't use 0.2 kW/h and 3 kW/h, respectively. The correct unit is kW (therefore: 0.2 kW and 3 kW). I know it sounds pedantic but it can confuse people as the energy companies calculate bills based on kWh (not kW/h). Therefore a 0.2 kW dehumidifier running for 5 h would be 1 kWh (0.2 kW × 5 h = 1 kWh).

Actually 0.2kW/h means 0.2kw per hr - which is what the dehumidifier uses. Multiplying by 5 hrs gives the equation 0.2kw over 1hr times 5 hrs = 1.0 kw or - 02.kw/h * 5h = 1kw. The h unit below the line in the first part of the equation, cancels out the h unit in the second part of the equation leaving only the kw unit for the answer.
@davidleonard2795
@davidleonard2795 4 ай бұрын
@@anneparker5378 I'm afraid that's not correct what you're saying. A 2 kW device in use for an hour would consume 2 kWh (2 kw * 1 hour). That is why your electricity meter is measured in kWh (kilowatt-hours). Still, it was a good video.

@@CharmedKez Unsure where 1.36p came from :/ Spin dryer costs £0.0102 per 1 hour at 30 watts and It costs £0.000680 per 4 minute spin using todays price. Extremely cheap. You would need to run a 30 watt spinner for 33 hours to equal 1 kWh. 33 cycles per Kw/h is definitely not correct.
