I line my Pyrex with Glad wrap and once the food is frozen I pop it out and wrap it. When you want to eat something just take it out in the morning, unwrap and pop it back in the Pyrex and let it thaw in the fridge for baking that night. I use the same 6 Pyrex over and over and I usually have 25-30 Pyrex shaped meals in the freezer, they stack well.

What do you wrap your meals in after they are frozen in the pyrex? I didn't know I could freeze in my glass pyrex, I was afraid they would crack. Do you have any tips for freezing in the pyrex? Have a great day, thank you!!

Always run your soap recipe through soapcalc. Not everything doubles or triples so it will give you the proper measurements. Also never use aluminum with cold process soap. I think I’d be shocked at how much money we spend eating out. I’d rather have that money in the bank for something else too. I watched one of your meal prep videos and I think that might be the way to go as well. I spend almost 3 hours a day cooking homemade dinners for my family. At 55, I’m just tired of doing that. We have a deep freezer, but it’s full of meat, etc. I’d have to buy another freezer if I were to do the meal prep...which I’m probably going to be doing. Thanks for all the ideas. You have a beautiful garden.

Once we moved 20+ miles out of town and since we both got off a different times and would have to drive home and then turn around and drive back into town just to eat we stopped eating out and the money we saved was surprising. I don't even get carry out because it's cold by the time I get home. Now that we are retired and can eat out whenever we want, we say do we really want to drive all the way into town just to eat?? The money we have saved is shocking.

@sandylee81843 жыл бұрын
@@sharrilswindle752 We are in the same boat, but we still buy things from that little grocery store to help them stay in business, one day I'm not going to be able to drive all the way into town, the price of gas may be too high, the car might not be running well, I might not feel well or I just need one thing. Helping them stay in business will help me in the long run and sometimes I get a surprise, they get something in that is so cheap I just have to buy some. They also procure meat and vegetables from local sources keeping the money here and I know where my meat is coming from.
@sharrilswindle7523 жыл бұрын
@@sandylee8184 ,OH I agree, I go to that store for some meat because they are actually meat processors ,they do deer, and things people hunt ,they will process. I buy my ice cream from them ,so I can get home before it melts..I usually by mostly organic or non gmo at least ,but I know as things get harder it may not be available anyway ..we also have a store called needful things ,they have a used furniture part ,then a discount stuff store which can be anything and they have a grocery part , and they kept everyone in our town and area when people couldn't get toilet paper they would take a truck up to Jacksonville, and bring a whole truckload of toilet paper to our town and alot of stuff the stores were out of, they had it ,so I very much appreciate them!! And we have a salon which I go there, and she does great work ,and we have a barber and aesthetician, and nail tech ,so the little town is 11 miles from me, and thankfully hubby has motorcycle, so if need be he can run to store..we stopped eating out ,it's just easier and less time, living so far out ,to just cook at home, now after doing this for a year and a half ,saves money and I try to always keep a year long pantry..so I would always not have something when I needed it , so I just started keeping a large pantry..I just finished canning 27 quarts of potatoes and onions..so worth all the work.
@sandylee81843 жыл бұрын
@@sharrilswindle752 Bless that little store for keeping things in stock when other store shelves were bare, it's great that they process the meat you know where it is coming from, not like Sams where the ground beef can come from Mexico, Canada, or the US. Now that it isn't required to label where the meat comes from we are being much more careful where we buy things. Congratulations on keeping a stocked pantry, I find so much security in ours, it is such a small closet next to the kitchen so I have food and supplies tucked everywhere. My husband mentioned we needed to corral it and try to get it more organized and I totally agree, I have considered moving stuff (like Christmas decorations) out of one of the rooms in the basement where we keep the freezer and utilizing those shelves for overflow. I will be able to keep better track of what we have and plan on starting that soon. I haven't taken on canning yet, I feel more comfortable with the canned foods I buy, I would hate to poison someone. I should have paid more attention when mom canned when we were younger. I love this youtube channel, I get so many ideas now I just need to put them into practice, everyone is so nice here.

Any soaps that I have made with lye I have ALWAYS left for a year before doing anything with it. It gives it a proper chance to cure and even if you have been lye heavy with it it tends to settle down enough that you can use it for its made purpose. It's a relatively new practise to make soap and use it within a month or 2. Traditionally it was always made a year in advance. That's me though but thought it may help xox

You do have a couple options other than turning the soap into laundry detergent. You can add a small amount of water and melt it back down on low heat stirring frequently. Once melted, stir constantly for 15 minutes or so before pouring into mold - no aluminum foil or pans. You can use cardboard box lined with parchment paper. I would let it set for 2 or 3 days before trying to cut it. If you feel it is lye heavy you just store it longer before using. The longer you leave lye soap the more lather it produces.

Freeze in the Pyrex and pop it out wrap it in plastic or aluminum foil, the food won't take up as much room in the freezer and you won't have a ton of Pyrex dishes. Then you can put the frozen food back in a Pyrex dish to bake. Be careful using it as laundry soap, it might eat through or bleach your clothes and you will need to make sure they are rinsed well because it can irritate your skin. I actually had a seed sprout in an uncut green pepper that was still firm, it was so strange. You should try planting sweet potatoes in a container, a friend does it every year, search it on Utube. You do such a great job making videos.

I love your aprons! Any chance you could share a link for them? Also, as a person close to your age currently in my second round against Stage 4 Melanoma, I couldn't help but cringe when you talked about sunbathing. You are beautiful and your skin is precious - protect it! You'll thank yourself for it later. :) I'd be happy to share my fave sunscreen recommendations!

Sorry about the soap! What a bummer, but if I know you you’ll figure something out to use it! Your garden is looking amazing! Can’t wait to watch it grow! Your doggies are adorable! Also I love this style of video! Keep them coming! I think you should do share the love video and tell us who you watch on The Tube! For some reason I’m always curious about the channels that I love what they are watching! Ok great job!

I would love to hear form you what you listen too so I can have more content to listen to. I am always looking for more info to absorb.

@@AcreHomestead I like to listen to podcasts too. I listen as I do my house chores! I listen to Homemaker Chic by Angela and Shea. I also watch their KZbin channels the Parisienne Farmgirl, and The Elliot Homestead. My favorite podcast is by Jill Winger Old Fashioned on purpose. She is a homesteader out of Wyoming and her story on how she got to where she is is so good. Her KZbin channel is full of information. And a really sweet one that I like as well is Farmhouse on Boone KZbin channel and her podcast is Simple Farmhouse Life. Well friend keep yours coming I can’t click on them fast enough when they are out!

The soap you quadrupled is not a waste! Laundry soap and you can also put it back in the crockpot and make hot process soap and re add oils to it! All is not lost
