I feel like he should have mentioned that you can use gtx cards (1660 and better IIRC) for ray tracing with dx12 you just need to add -dx12 to the launcher shortcut and enable it in the render options.. For those that didn't shell out for rtx cards!
@chrinarai

I should add that this has just been added to the new version and you don't need to add the launcher details, just enable it as normal as long as you have up to date drivers

Yes. More info on it below. Rtx uses new hardware for ray trace process boosting. These software updates are for those kinda cards so they can properly use the new hardware You can still very much use these lighting methods on older cards how ever they take longer to produce images. These cards are heavily marketed because this tech is old but the hardware is new and makes it able to reach real time. Hoped I helped have a good day

I have to say ..all this fuss over raytracing...and l turn it off all time on pc and dont miss it....nvidia used raytracing as an excuse to put prices up and to try to stop fps hitting 4k 144fps at which point no one will want a new gpu for years. If our hardware becomes to expensive just to run un needed ray tracing then dont bother with it. If l had to choose a high fps card or one with raytracing l would choose the cheaper fps one ..raytracing at moment is a expensive gimmick with nvidia doubling price using it as excuse.
@jackwestcott615
@jackwestcott615 3 жыл бұрын
Idk, absolutely love ray tracing in most games, but it depends on the game as to whether it's worth the frame drop, Minecraft for instance look incredible with ray tracing on, and changed the game dramatically!
@siminc7905
@siminc7905 3 жыл бұрын
Games use very MANY tricks to make games look close to realistic.Some of those tricks and code takes months or years to develop.Ray tracing is very taxing on hardware(games still need tweaks to be playable) but promises realism without tricks which means realism goes to a whole new level.This is especially important for artists and architects who just want realistic light with clicking a button.If you think gaming rtx cards are expensive,professional quadro rtx cards go for up to 5,000$
