Before I duck hunted, I worked on a spread that had hot tub springs running through it. Constantly ducks piling in it. Wish I would have gotten into waterfowl then, but this video helps seeing how it is done on small water.

Would you guys happen to know what the water temperatures are like in these warm water creeks? In comparison to 3F degree outside temperature, are they actually warm/hot and spring fed? Because you were mentioning other parts of the creek just a couple hundred yards away it's frozen

This is how I hunt them every winter, probably very very close to where your at here. We use 6-12 decoys and hide in the weeds with the same results.

I watch these videos and it just makes me think I'm a terrible shot. This past season was my first time hunting. Did pretty well shooting 12 gauge 3" #4 for the most part but there were definitely a number of ducks that somehow flew off or my shooting was just that awful.

Just keep practicing! It’s a long offseason, plenty of time to tune up before this fall!

@@divebombsquad Yep, once spring/summer comes back around I'll be getting to the range at least once a month. I had a good season considering it was my first time hunting at all...8 Mallards, 2 Woodies and a Teal

12 guage definitely makes a difference but ammo has definitely gotten better . In the first 5 or so years of steel shot man I remember hittin mallards at 10 yards hoverin. Every shot id watch the head whip back an than come back up and ol drake would fly away 😂 couldn't believe my eyes than.

Be careful with the sub gauge stuff. I've become addicted to shooting mallards and big honkers with the 28 LOL. 1/2 oz TSS 8.5 under 1/2 oz steel 5 are deadly on anything over the decoys. Shot cranes with 1 oz #8 TSS last year.
