i grew up in a hmong shaman household and i actually have run into a spirit recently. i would start by waking up in the middle of the night and feel something staring at me. i just ignored it because i thought maybe i was just too tired to come to my real senses; but i started feeling this “thing” in a specific corner of my room staring at me as i was in bed and i never felt that it anywhere else. i again brushed it off but once i started feeling what the appearance looked like i started to get freaked out. one night i again felt this presence in the corner and for whatever reason i started naming the traits in my head. she was a woman, tall, black hair, long nails. i ended up telling my parents about it because it was started to get frequent and more intense. i then was sent to a shaman home where she “cleansed” me and gave me a bracelet to wear for protection and a red cloth triangle and some pieces of wood that was attached to a piece of string to hang over my bed. ever since that my room has felt lighter and i haven’t felt that a spirit since

Drinking excessive water messes up the balance of natural minerals and salts (dilutes it). I’ve seen a patient in A&E who had symptoms of stroke (confusion, weakness) but after further investigation it turned out the patient had drunk several litres of water in quick succession to try to “detox” after a big party. The sodium blood levels were in double digits (normally 135-145) but thankfully they made a full recovery after treatment with appropriate iv infusions

A Shaman story from my aunt: So at a Hmong Funeral, they had 3 regular uncooked eggs sitting in 3 bowls of uncooked rice on their side. The point is to ask each egg bowl if there was any regrets that the person who passed had. If the person did have any regrets the egg was to sit up. I only remember 2 of the questions, 1) If they had any debt unpaid before they passed. 2) If the person was able to say their goodbyes to everyone before they passed. During the second question, the egg shot up, and my aunt who has NEVER seen these things happen at funerals was so scared she gasped, which is a big no-no, because it could make your spirt fall. She had to be cleansed and then was kicked out of the funeral lol. They found out that the person had raised a young boy who eventually moved to Florida and the person who passed had wondered how he was doing throughout her life, they ended up flying him out so that he could say his goodbyes and then asked the question again, the egg didn't move! CRAZY story!!!

Im Hmong, my family has "strong spiritual energy," my grandpa (dad side) was a shaman, my other grandpa was one, my aunt is one, and now my mom was choosen as one. When my mother was chosen, my family we were going through just rough things in life. I kept getting hurt every year, my dad got fired and became really sick, my mom had really bad body pain through he body, my younger brother was super depressed, my nieces kept getting sick for no reason. Then, just last year, 2023, a family that got separated during the Vietnam War, called my mom outta nowhere and told me mother she was chosen. My mom didn't want to do it but once she accepted. Our families luck shot up! Everyones pain went away, all my sisters are getting pregnant, my brothers are less shitty (still fat), everyone got a new better paying job. Its been good since then.v

At my Aunty's wedding years ago, a painting flew off the wall (it didn't just fall off, it appeared to be pushed off from behind but no one touched it) with all the staff as witnesses. Last Hmong Shaman story! It's not anything like my others but, my grandpa passed when I was very little. And Hmong Shaman funerals at the time would last the entire weekend. Before my grandpa's spirt passed, so the day before they buried him, he visited me in my sleep and told me this was his last good bye to me. I woke up crying and was really scared, because my parents didn't want us kids running around at the funeral home, so we stayed with our aunts. Flash forward to literally a year and a half ago, I stayed over at a different aunt's house and was sleeping on their pull out couch in the living room, and they have the little night light bug catchers everywhere, one was in their kitchen. The kitchen and living room can be separated by a sliding door. The entire night I had an eerie feeling so I thought it might be best to close the sliding door. (I'm blind without glasses or contacts, so I put my glasses on to get up and close the sliding door) and was met with a VERY tall black figure standing in the kitchen, I literally was so freakin scared, I looked down the entire time and just quickly shut the door. The next morning I told my aunt and uncle and they've said that whenever shamans have come to cleanse their house and do rituals that my grandpa's spirit is actually taller than he was in real life (we assume he probs always wanted to be tall and is able to live that tall life in the spirit world) so they told me it was most likely my grandpa who came to probably see me. A few days after we went to get cleansed by a shaman and he confirmed that who I saw was my grandpa and that I am gifted and may start being able to see, hear, and smell things that may be associated with the spirit world!

For Two and a half years I was an insomniac because Demons would visit my dreams no one in my home believed me until a week before we moved to our current house and my elder brother dreamed of the same Demon he said it but his arm but left no marks whereas in my dreams it would bite and scratch me I would wake up with bruises and scratches where it touched me and I had these dreams until I left that house and I will get the dreams if I stay somewhere with a dark presence but since I repaired my relationship with God they haven’t been able to harm me (A lot of people will probably think this is superstition but it’s true and honestly the scariest thing I’ve ever gone through)

So, I'm American, Polish mutt American. I study various cultural religions and spiritual practices. Shamanism in S. Korea is alive and well, but less mainstream, with most Shamans being pushed to the out skirts of towns and cities. Usually sought out for house blessings, spirit healing, removal of demons (not Christian demons - that's a topic for a different time) - even matching souls for marriages. Here, they would be close to Indiginous faith healers and would use spirit to guide them to heal with chanting, herbal remedies, dance, etc. Tarot and astrology is a completely different pseudo science and falls closer under witch craft/paganism/divination - so that's a completely different thing as well. There's so much variation in what you were talking about in this little section, just trying to pull some of it apart for you. And I have heard ghosts, I have clairaudience, but it's not a practice I use often enough to even remotely try to "talk" to dead people. Usually I hear my deceased relatives, and just little things like my real name or a nick name from when I was little, and then asking me how I am, and I live alone. Anyway, hope this helped a little.

If you are a Christian then you don’t participate in shamanism. Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. If you have accepted Jesus into your heart then you can’t be possessed by a demon or ghost. If you are seeing paranormal activity then find a preacher to help you. The Holy Ghost lives inside of believers. But there aren’t any human ghosts. The soul goes to heaven or hell. It doesn’t remain on the earth to haunt people.
