I would honestly feel the same if I saw a narwhal or a sword fish coming at me in the ocean. Unless you´re on a boat there´s not a thing you could do. But yah seeing a shark that size swimming towards you got to feel like seeing a lion or a crocodile coming at while you´re stuck in quicksand

For centuries English sea captain’s reported them breaching in a gentle bend. Remember they grow up to 40+ feet. They marveled and wondered..were they feeding? Was something chasing them? A wonderful moment caught on video.....or a tragedy if it had landed on you. Thankfully it’s just a fantastic video. And rare to see. That’s an old sailor story there. And you witnessed it. Few believed they were so agile.

I know Basking Sharks jump high off the water to get rid of parasites but I never fully believed that since the photos and video footage of them jumping was far away that I sometimes think they mistaken it for a Great White Shark, but after seeing this video I now fully believed in this fact. The video shown was very amazing since it shows a TON of Basking Sharks and the shark was already close enough for me to confirm it was a Basking Shark. @Th0ughtf0rce You are right as they are both in the mackeral family of sharks. It is still a myth used today when you see a rare 40-foot basking next to a boat, and they think it is a great white or a megaladon. They have a similar shape to whites but they are distinguishable if you put the effort into looking into the differences. Problem is many people think everything online is real. That’s gotta be the dumbest comment I’ve ever heard. They’re majestic, but building bombs to kill them? The fuck are you on about?

So beautiful! I am amazed, this shark is magnificent. Why would he do that? Is it a fishing technic? A mating ceremonial? Or, as I have read in one, very interesting comment, to get rid of their parasites? If someone knows, thanks for the answer. And thanks for this great footage!

I am about 3 times as horrified of basking sharks now that I know they just choose to go slow.

Amazing video guys, I never knew they did this, and considering they aren't launching a seal like Great Whites, I am happily confused as to why they are doing this. I can't wait to research this more. You have really made my morning, bloody well done and thanks!

I was saw a fish about 1.5m long chilling near our diving boat and almost shit my pants as it looks so big in the water; these people are definitely shocked.
