I also covered this dive and to clear things up, John had a motorcycle accident which limited his mobility even years later, so when he went to dive in SDD he had to remove his rebreather to get through the tight entrance, and was unable to fully get it back on properly which lead to it getting caught in the restriction as he was making his return journey, which is why he switched to the bailout tank. This reminds me of a college paper that needs to be at least 8 pages but you can only get to 4. So you rephrase every important detail at least once, then probably a 3rd time in the next paragraph, making sure to devote a lengthy sentence for every time. Then you start making up parts that you assume are correct, hoping that the teacher won't realize that you have no idea what you're writing about. Then as a Last resort you add 1 unnecessary adjective and adverb MINIMUM to each sentence because if you add too many then the teacher will absolutely realize that you've padded out you're entire paper if they haven't already, which they probably have.

Hey guys... I live in the panhandle of Florida and have been here most of my life. My family owns 40 acres just 6 miles from Vortex Springs, 9 miles from Ponce de Leon Springs, 12 miles from Morrison Springs, and just 38 miles from Panama City Beach where I was raised and graduated high school in this rural area. There are caves and springs scattered all through this area. I've grown up swimming in a lot of them. However... once while fishing with a friend on the river, which runs around 7 miles from the family property...we discovered a crystal clear creek running into the muddy water of the river. It was a very good flowing creek. We followed it up for about a 1/4 a mile and it ended in a deep spring. It was a chimney like hole going down about what we guessed was about 40-60 feet to the bottom with a cave entrance at the bottom. The water was extremely clear so it made judging the distance to the bottom problematic. Water was just blowing up out of the chimney creating the clear creek. The chimney hole looked to be about 10-15 feet across and straight down. If you guys are ever in the area and would like to be the first to explore this system...I would like to come along and would love to guide you guys to it and a few others that I know that have never been in by anyone. Ever since I saw this one many years ago, I've thought about it. I'm getting up in age (56) and before I get where I can't...I want to explore it. It is very remote, surrounded by woods and the only way to it is by boat on the river and by knowing what to look for. Let me know if you would be interested in being the first to explore this spring and its caves, or some of the others that I know that have never been explored by anyone.

Hilarious. GPT Gus and Woody face unfathomable multiple dangers in the claustrophobic but highly technical realm of the studio. Never knowing what lurking malevolent forces may be seeking their imminant but untimely demise.

Thank you for explaining in so much detail. As someone who has never been scuba diving but has a dream to one day, I watch your videos to learn as much as I can. Cave diving is so fascinating to me.

It is amazing to me that no one has invented submersible autonomous drones to survey these cave systems. Not only would they be able to go places humans can't, but they would be able to measure the widths of passages before a person ever even tried to fit through them.

Transmission between rocks is still in its infancy, there are already some very capable scuba drones to explore but without the proper technology to communicate with it gets quite tricky.

Those do exist. There was an interview on Dive Talk a year or so ago with Jill Heinerth. Among the gear she uses to explore caves was a mapping submersible. While on cable, it was able to return info to the surface in real time. Off cable, it would explore for a limited time, then return to the surface, where the data is downloaded from the drone. Very cool technology. 😎

Yeah but I don't think that drone was up to task of actually navigating extremely narrow passages, that was a fairly bulky drone with all the lidar and scanners on it. I think that besides the drone mentioned which surely is capable of mapping anything but those tightest places, some smaller perhaps even 'expendable probes if they can't return' which you don't want to risk with a drone costing millions. Have the bigger drone act as a 'mothership', and be able to use smaller drones to aid it it where it can't risk passing through itself. @@sophiedash4026

They do exist, for example.check out the Sunfish, but it's harder than you'd think so they're still in the prototype phase.

I did some underwater robotics stuff for competitions in school. Enclosed environments provide a more difficult engineering problem than one may initially expect, especially when you consider there isn't much commercial reason for cave exploration so budget is tight. That said, technology is only getting better, and it'll be exciting to see what is available in the coming years.

You guys both have the most contagious laughs. Let me start with the fact that I have never been scuba diving. Literally everything I know about it has come from information that you both have shared. I say that because there are times that I have no idea what is going on or what the problem is, but you guys start laughing and it cracks me up. Anyways I love you guys videos. Please keep em coming. Super entertaining and very informative

I've had to work with ChatGpt in the past and I was also watching this going "this sounds way too much like AI...oh..." What a lazy "creator". Thank God we still have real storytellers like MrBallen.
